GE 5-Speed Digital Hand Mixer 3.1 5 45 47
Dissapointed I bought this hand mixer at my local walmart about 2 weeks ago. I loved that this one came with the storage case and had 300 watts of power. It seemed to be everything I wanted. It is very powerfull and has a lot of features on it that I like. the disappointing part is that the chrome plating on the beaters started to peel and flake off so I ended up with little bits of chrome in my cake batter and icing. I'm very upset because I thought I had made a good choice. And I guess it's possible that I just ended up with the one bad one in the whole bunch. I'm going to return it tomorrow for one that doesn't have chrome plating on it. :( 11/08/2009
Very Disappointed! After seeing this mixer advertised, I put it on my Christmas wish list and received one in December 2009 as a gift. The mixer was used 5 times or less and the motor quit working. I tried restarting the mixer by unplugging it and then plugging it back in, as well as trying to operate it outside the bowl. None of the suggestions in the instruction booklet worked. I had no success in getting it to work. Since the mixer was needed immediately, I purchased another mixer to attempt to complete my baking project. The second mixer worked just fine and I thought that maybe the first one was just a dud. Well, I cleaned the mixer and stored it as directed. Then when I pulled it out to use it again (2 days after I bought it), the motor wasn't working. It didn't even attempt to start. I only used the mixers to prepare cakes, nothing heavy duty and when cleaning only used a damp cloth. Since I bought this one, I returned it to Wal-Mart. Overall, I was impressed with the mixer, until both of the 2 mixers quit working in such a short time period. It was heavier than my previous mixer, but that was no big deal. Maybe others have had better luck, but in my opinion this mixer is useless. 02/26/2010
Much More Powerful Than My Old One! You will Luv this mixer if you were the purchase one!I highly recommend this mixer because of the multiple mixing attachments,the easy to use & set LED digital controls,it's so lightweight for such a powerful one!I just luv the slow start feature sure does cut down on flour flying everywhere when adding to your batter or dough!Unlike my old mixer it does not tip back into the mixing bowl even with a fully loaded beaters very wide base on it!I have only owned for a few days now I am just very much enjoying using this product I can not wait to do all of my hoilday baking now!With this mixer it will be a pleasure!Happy Mixing,Thank you 12/04/2009
short lived joy I admit being picky with my kitchen appliances. The first test a mixer has to stand with me is a good pizza - to see if the dough hooks work. I've had an awful experience with my old mixer (Procter) that literally whirled the whole pizza dough up into the mixers interior...This one did the pizza test fine and other than being a bit heavy it has performed quite well. Personally I have never used any speed past 4 - and that only for fun when whipping up egg-whites so my recommendation to GE would be to spend more time engineering durability than making sure this mixer will be able to operate as a centrifuge.After about a year the power button became hard to operate. It was never my favorite part of this design that it has this little touchy-feely button instead of the hold fashioned knob but it started to be unresponsive half of the time causing me to unplug it a few times because it was over-beating my cream.I am currently in the process of returning it, after it completely stopped working right around Christmas and so far I am not impressed with the service. If offered I guess I would take a money back offer rather than a replacement of this mixer!I have not seen them much in this country but both my mother and grandmother have Braun Hand Mixers and those guys are seriously indestructible - I inherited my grandmas mixer when I first moved out - at which point it was already 30 years old, and it is now stored in my parents basement, fully functional awaiting my return ;-) 01/18/2011
