Ordered this item with the ship to store option. Drove across town to the Walmart to pick it up, brought it home, powered it on and set the clock. Walked away for about 10 minutes, came back and found that the time had not changed. I went ahead and set the timer for a minute and tried to heat something up. The oven started running and heated stuff up just fine, but the timer never ticked down and the oven kept running and running and would not have stopped unless I manually powered it off. I got frustrated but still wanted to keep the microwave. Turns out the unit was built back in November 2010! GE sent an appliance technician over and he told me that GE no longer makes parts for the unit and that I needed to return it. So this is an old microwave that was discontinued by GE a while ago with no support available but was sold as new. Buyer beware. The price was awesome, but the unit was defective. I was very disappointed with this whole situation.

While vacationing in Wichita, I was told that my 21 year old Kenmore microwave had died. I went on line to view WalMart microwaves, when I found a 2.1 CF GE Microwave with 1200W and all kinds of features (one a 16" dia. turntable). I noticed that other similar micrwaves cost $150.00-250.00. Being curious why this microwave only cost $99.00, I checked the reviews from other buyers. Most of the reviews very good to excellent. I took a chance and ordered the microwave, on line. I was expecting a week or so delivery. One day after I got home (two days later) the microwave arrived, from a warehouse in the Chicago area. My wife already had it set up. It has a very nice silver metallic outside, good lighting inside and a 16" turntable. It has easy to use excellent controls. It cooks very evenly. I could not be happier. I still don't know why this unit costs only $99.00, but I am not arguing!! Hats off to GE and WalMart for such an excellent product at an excellent cost!!

Walmart offered a new or refurbished model. I bought the new one. When it arrived it looked like it was resealed. The microwave had two missing legs. They were not in the box. Inner wrappings were just thrown in. The microwave did not look new. I had to return the first one. It was not in the store so I could not exchange it. I liked the price so I ordered another one. The second one came with the box completely taped together. The second microwave looked better than the first one. The packing was better but still lead you to believe it was repacked. The legs were all there. A few minor scratches on the top but not noticeable in the cart. I cleaned and sanitzed it to be safe. It worked when plugged in. Not convinced it is a new one but not enough to return it. It was cheaper than other stores for the same model. It seems to be an older model and very cheaply made but compatible with the price charged. I am not unhappy enough to return it but not happy enough to recommend it.

Absolutely a great microwave. What a difference from my old 800 watt micro. In addition to the quick 1, 2 or 3 express buttons, you can not only select the exact time you want and set the power level, 100%, 50% or whatever, if you're not sure how long you want something to cook start low, hit pause and check your food, then resume and add 30 sec at a time. This is a 1200 watt microwave and most frozen meals are timed for 1100 watt - so go slow until you get a feel for the right time to set this powerful micro to cook your meals and don't over cook. This is a user friendly micro and I love it, you will too!

I've had a GE before, I love the express cook feature. This one also has heat sensor technology for reheating and MyPyramid for healthy foods. Can cook while running a separate timer. Oven is spacious and very stylish. At 1200 watts, you can still follow most frozen food directions, just cut the time back by 10 to 15 seconds. The bubble buttons are an adjustment if you're used to flat panel buttons. Only flaw so far is the decal over the buttons is starting to peel.

Couldn't go wrong buying a GE product . The microwave we had was on its last leg , took 3 times to warm water and we wasted many a bag of popcorn . This GE is wonderful it warms coffee in 30 seconds and pops popcorn with very few kernels remaining . Picked her up a whistling teapot to keep her from running the micro just to warm up water for tea too the same night I placed the order for the microwave on line . I'm surprised it wasn't energy star worthy it gives the option to turn off the stand by and save energy . Well it serves its purpose and looks good in the spot where the old monster was . It was a household / birthday gift , to save electricity and yeah I use it too .

We returned this microwave the day after we picked it up (site to store). Our last GE Microwave was much better quality! This one the door latch was already not working properly and it had little scratch/dents in the metal inside the door! Quality was extremely poor.

I would not recommend this for anyone that does not intend to cook large amounts of casseroles or even a turkey. It is huge. It took up a large amount of my counter space and is bulky. Very attractive and would fit the purpose of maybe caterer. I have to return it because, It is just way too large. Honestly a small child could fit inside. Not that I would but its that big.

Does that mean you have to weigh the food first? How do you know the "weight" to enter?

  • A. It is on retail packages. Otherwise weigh it or estimate. Not a big deal.

  • A. Vert simple. Just look on your packaging of the meat or estimate the weight. I usuall have 2-3 lb. roast or 1 lb. hamburger.

  • A. To use this feature, yes, you would either have to weigh the food or know beforehand what the weight was; two pounds of frozen burger, or a three pound roast, for instance. Otherwise, just use the time defrost.

  • A. I don't bother weighing it, just hold it and guesstimate - usually if it's a big container it's between 2 and 3 lbs. A small square 3"x3" food container is about a lb.

  • A. Many of the foods you buy in the stores now are sold by weight. Otherwise, pick it up and enter your best guess. We've had a microwave like this for about 10 years and have never had any problems figuring the weight out.

  • A. Sounds like a power problem. Either the outlet is not working, the EFI has been popped or possibly the power cord isn't properly seated. My guess would be the EFI. You will know it if there are other items on the circuit that aren't working either. The EFI is a plug with usually two outlets that has a red and I black button in the middle. If it pops, that's the same as a circuit breaker. Reset by pushing in on one of the buttons, the push the other back in. You will notice a click when you hit the one that needs to be reset and when you reset it, there will be a bit of resistance. Otherwise, you may have a faulty tube. If that's the case, I'd take it back to the store and get another. Quite expensive to replace.
