This is one very large microwave. I didn't realize how large until it got here. I really love it and the features are great. Defrosts food quickly without over processing it.

Absolutely a great microwave. What a difference from my old 800 watt micro. In addition to the quick 1, 2 or 3 express buttons, you can not only select the exact time you want and set the power level, 100%, 50% or whatever, if you're not sure how long you want something to cook start low, hit pause and check your food, then resume and add 30 sec at a time. This is a 1200 watt microwave and most frozen meals are timed for 1100 watt - so go slow until you get a feel for the right time to set this powerful micro to cook your meals and don't over cook. This is a user friendly micro and I love it, you will too!

I've had a GE before, I love the express cook feature. This one also has heat sensor technology for reheating and MyPyramid for healthy foods. Can cook while running a separate timer. Oven is spacious and very stylish. At 1200 watts, you can still follow most frozen food directions, just cut the time back by 10 to 15 seconds. The bubble buttons are an adjustment if you're used to flat panel buttons. Only flaw so far is the decal over the buttons is starting to peel.

Ordered this item with the ship to store option. Drove across town to the Walmart to pick it up, brought it home, powered it on and set the clock. Walked away for about 10 minutes, came back and found that the time had not changed. I went ahead and set the timer for a minute and tried to heat something up. The oven started running and heated stuff up just fine, but the timer never ticked down and the oven kept running and running and would not have stopped unless I manually powered it off. I got frustrated but still wanted to keep the microwave. Turns out the unit was built back in November 2010! GE sent an appliance technician over and he told me that GE no longer makes parts for the unit and that I needed to return it. So this is an old microwave that was discontinued by GE a while ago with no support available but was sold as new. Buyer beware. The price was awesome, but the unit was defective. I was very disappointed with this whole situation.

  • A. Depends on your warranty. The microwave I had before this died but it was still under warranty. Check with the manufacturer. And, don't forget, if you used a credit card when you bought it you could have an extended warranty covered by it.

  • A. my old one would turn on, table turn, but not "heat". called the customer serivce and there are too many items unavailable to us to fix. Esp, with the "brown outs" where I am, surge protectors everywhere. but sorry it's not worth having it fixed. use that money and just get a new one. my husband is one of those that you love to hate, takes the fun out of things. so believe me when I say don't waste your money..

  • A. Sounds like a power problem. Either the outlet is not working, the EFI has been popped or possibly the power cord isn't properly seated. My guess would be the EFI. You will know it if there are other items on the circuit that aren't working either. The EFI is a plug with usually two outlets that has a red and I black button in the middle. If it pops, that's the same as a circuit breaker. Reset by pushing in on one of the buttons, the push the other back in. You will notice a click when you hit the one that needs to be reset and when you reset it, there will be a bit of resistance. Otherwise, you may have a faulty tube. If that's the case, I'd take it back to the store and get another. Quite expensive to replace.

Does that mean you have to weigh the food first? How do you know the "weight" to enter?

  • A. It is on retail packages. Otherwise weigh it or estimate. Not a big deal.

  • A. Vert simple. Just look on your packaging of the meat or estimate the weight. I usuall have 2-3 lb. roast or 1 lb. hamburger.

  • A. To use this feature, yes, you would either have to weigh the food or know beforehand what the weight was; two pounds of frozen burger, or a three pound roast, for instance. Otherwise, just use the time defrost.

  • A. I don't bother weighing it, just hold it and guesstimate - usually if it's a big container it's between 2 and 3 lbs. A small square 3"x3" food container is about a lb.

  • A. Many of the foods you buy in the stores now are sold by weight. Otherwise, pick it up and enter your best guess. We've had a microwave like this for about 10 years and have never had any problems figuring the weight out.

  • A. I have mine on a shelf, but it is up over the counter, not mounted. The shelf was designed to hold a microwave or other appliance. I do not see a way to mount it under a cabinet, and it is quite large.

  • A. Only if you obtain a sleeve to mount under the cabinet and slide the entire microwave inside. It doesn't have the proper fittings for self installation. I doubt if there is anything commercially available that would fit the need but one can never say never. However it is very unlikely.
