  • About this item

Learning to deal with demanding babies can be difficult even for an experienced mother. These breast milk trays are specifically designed to preserve excess breast milk. Unlike most other complicated methods of freezing breast milk, using these breast milk storage trays is simple. You can freeze up to twelve 1-ounce portions per tray. Just thaw as many cubes as you need at a time and leave the rest for further use. Made of FDA-approved food-safe plastic, these baby food storage trays are perfectly safe to store your baby food, as well. These stackable, spill-proof, and single-serving trays even include individual covers to eliminate freezer burn and odors. Being dishwasher-safe, the baby food storage trays are easy to clean as well. Baby food storage will get a whole lot easier with these plastic baby food trays.

    They really are So Easy...

We absolutley love them. Orignally, we purchased one set of two trays and have since purchased three more sets for making and freezing larger batches. If you're considering using conventional ice cube trays, don't. The So Easy trays are much sturdier, they don't break when you flex them back and forth the remove the cubes, and you'll really appreciate the lids -- they seal great, keep the food from spilling and lock in the food scent so your freezer doesn't smell like a jar of baby food. A good recommendation for milk storage for pumping mom's -- make a tray or two of milk cubes in addition to filling freezer bags. That way as baby grows and your freezer bag is half an ounce or an ounce shy of what you need, you can just toss in a milk cube or two instead of defrosting an entire bag of milk. I also use these trays for 'grownup' foods -- making cubes out of extra tomato paste, lemon juice, etc. Really, they are great for the whole family. We've been using them for several months and couldn't be happier!

I got my storage trays with the baby food kit and I liked them so much I bought more so that I have a total of 4 of them. They make it super easy to make 1 oz portions of food for your baby. The individual cubes are the perfect size for beginner eaters (just needing a small amount), or for making mixtures later (I can grab 1oz of sweet potato, 1 oz of apple sauce, etc). The lids fit tightly, keeping air out. The instructions say to freeze for 8 hours of overnight, then transfer to another storage method for long-term storage (I use freezer bags). Since they are not meant for long-term storage, you may notice some ice crystals on the inside of the green lid if you accidentally forget and leave them in there for a few days. (Not that moms ever forget anything!) But there's no harm to the food in my experience. If you're like me, you're thinking, "I'll just get some $1 ice cube trays from the grocery and use those instead." Tried that. I covered them in both plastic wrap and foil and I could not get as good of a seal as the green lids, even with rubber bands holding it in place. Plus then I couldn't stack them very well (I like to make many trays worth at once and I don't have a lot of freezer space). Not to mention all the wasted plastic wrap and foil! That really cut my savings down with all that waste. I do want to add that I made carrots in them and they left a bit of an orange tint in the tray. I've seen no long-term problems with that and I've just decided to make that one my carrot and sweet potato tray. But I wouldn't hesitate to use it for any other foods. Overall, I love this product, I'm so glad I have 4 of them, and I'm planning to get some for my sister to try with her new baby this summer!

This works very well. It does what it is supposed to do. It is a bit pricey but there are no equal products at a less expensive price so I would still highly recommend this. It does what it's supposed to do. It's best to take out the frozen ice cubes and put them in a freezer bag to better prevent freezer burn. The food cubes come out easy if your run the tray under warm water for a little bit before taking them out.

    • The price listed is for 2 trays. I would recommend getting 2 sets (4 trays) though because when making purees using the book instructions that come in the So Easy kit, it makes way more than just 2 trays worth. Typically 3 or 4 trays. Awesome though, because then it's less cooking =)

Is this better than the storage liners or would both probably be for the best because of frost? Plan to make a good supply.
    by startedonlineshopping 11/12/2009
    • I found they take up more space in the freezer bags but good if you only need to use a little bit of milk. I plan to do both the bags and these that way can defrost a lot or a little at a time.

    • I recommend both. Each cube is about 1/2 ounce. When baby is a newborn, you may get buy with just cubes, but when you get to needing 3 or 4 ounces at a time, bags are much easier. I do recommend making a tray or two of cubes because the bags are rarely the perfect amount and you can easily toss in a cube or two to 'top off' the bottle when the bag is shy of the full amount. This keeps you from having to defrost an entire second bag. When baby is bigger, they work great for baby food if you plan to make your own.

    • I would invest in the ziplock vacuum kit. Whether it be a deep freeze or a reg. freezer you will get ice crystals if you save it for long. You won't get the full 6 months life that breast milk can have in a deep freeze just using regular ziplock bags...too much air is left in them.

    • Don't know about the storage liners, but I used it once for breastmilk and won't use it again for that purpose. Cubes don't fit in a standard bottle without forcing them and you do get quite a bit of frost on the cubes once they are in a ziplock freezer bag. I use the lansinoh mommy's milk freezer bags for breastmilk storage and I use these trays for baby food purees and love them for that purpose.

    • The storage liners are best for long term storage because you can put up to 5 or 6 oz in each and they do not take up as much room. The cubes are better used for baby food. Although I have made a few cubes a breast milk to make the rice cereal since you only need a few ounces for that.

I plan to go back to school when my child is about 6 months, therefore ease of use for daddy is important. Will the frozen cubes of milk fit through a standard bottle opening? This may not be a problem if I can use Playtex with liners but we all know how picky babies can be when it comes to bottle nipples!
    by an anonymous customer 3/3/2010
    • It depends on how full you fill each cube. In my experience, filling them clear to the top, they barely don't fit inside a standard bottle opening without trying to cram it in. I would recommend just not filling the cubes clear full. Each cube that just fits inside the bottle opening is about half an ounce. So i don't ever measure the liquid for the correct amount, I just count cubes. It's awesome!

    • The cubes are smaller than a standard ice cube tray even though they say it's 1oz per cube I only measure 1/2oz. I have the wide bottles which are fine for them.

    • The cubes will fit into wide mouth Avent bottles and Playtex bottles that use liners. Having them in cube form is handy when you only need a couple of ounces thawed for mixing with cereal, however like others have pointed out the cubes will get frosty if kept for a long time in freezer bags in a regular freezer, keeps much longer frost free in a deep freeze. Ziplock makes a vacuum system where you could possibly store more ahead of time, idk haven't tried it. May invest however. The cubes are not 1oz. portions, they are actually less so that also has to be calculated when thawing, however I'm still very happy with my trays!

    • No the cubes don't fit...you can force them in, but then you lose a few drops of milk. I bought the symphony milk sticks containers and like those a lot better for breastmilk storage. They are slim and fit in any bottle. I use Dr. Brown's bottles as well as munchkin glass bottles. I do use these cube trays for purees though and love them for that purpose.
