I've had a few of these Food Saver machines. I verified operation on this one as soon as I got it. Everything works as advertised. As I said, I've had a few of these Food Saver machines. Most of the time I just wanted to upgrade...BUT, I have had problems with them working with the canisters that you can buy separately. THIS machine seems to have finally RESOLVED ALL MY PAST CONCERNS. also, JUST AS A POINT OF INTEREST, THE MANUFACTURER is really super to work with and help you out with ANY problems.

I absolutely love it. Has a moist or dry setting. Seals and vacuums great. Have already packaged lots of garden veggies for the freezer.

I will be buying a food saver. Do you have a suggestion for me. I prepare soup, sauces in large amts. freezing some for later. I need to keep cheese from getting mold in the refrigerator . I also prepare large casseroles in an 11 by 18 dishes , how would I freeze those. Thanks AG

    • Just like with a $50 sealer, you must freeze first. Just having purchased this and finding that it works the same as my much cheaper sealer, I am returning it. Even the most minuscule amounts of water (frozen greens that slightly defrosted while sitting on the counter to be sealed, maybe 2 tablespoons of moisture total.) will cause the seal to fail. This was with the moist setting as well. HUGE FAILURE.

    • Yes, you can. I make huge batches of cream of broccoli soup, and I have used bags in past. works great, and the best part is that you can take out of the freezer and put in a pot of boiling water to heat soup. Then just pour it in a bowl. Never tried it on cheese, but I'm sure it would work well. Casseroles would be a little harder, but if you cut it in squares, should work fine also.

    • I would not try to seal soups in a bag I think it will suck all the liquid out of the bag I do soups all the time but I can it in jars you will need a pressure canner they are the best 75 dollars spent and the soup taste just like it was just made even after a year but you must process it in a pressure canner to kill bacteria that just processing in a boiling water canner will not kill if you do not do this you could get very sick or even die

    • here is a great hint, before you vaccume it up in a BAG, freeze it first, if not you can use a Mason Jar to seal it too, I just use the lid and the jar. when it seals the lid just sucks right down on the jar, the twist ring is a good idea to put on as well to keep it from accidently prying open, but I usually just freeze anything with juice to it, and after it is frozen I put it into a bag and seal it, that way poke a hole in it, and plop it into the microwave and heat it back up.

    • Freeze your soup or casseroles in a container the size of one of there bags, then after it's frozen put it in one of their bags and seal it while it's frozen. You can reuse their bags after you cut off some to get to your item out and wash it out to use it on maybe a smaller item you want to vacuum out the air with. They have containers for cheese on the Food Saver web site, but you cannot freeze with them. You can put your cheese in one of their bags also and you can freeze those if you want to.
