Movie Description

The following content was provided by the publisher.

In "Food, Inc.", filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, insecticide-resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won't go bad, but we also have new strains of e coli - the harmful bacteria that causes illness for an estimated 73,000 Americans annually. We are riddled with widespread obesity, particularly among children, and an epidemic level of diabetes among adults. Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser ("Fast Food Nation"), Michael Pollan ("The Omnivore's Dilemma") along with forward thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield Farm's Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms' Joe Salatin, "Food, Inc." reveals surprising - and often shocking truths - about what we eat, how it's produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here.

Rated 5 out of 5★ by helpful food choices tell everyone about it and everyone should see it. a lot of info. on food great movie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! food, inc. 10/04/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by must see for anyone who eats Food Inc. Is a must see for anyone who eats. It is a documentary about the world's food supply. Lack thereof and what big business is doing to control the food supply. It is scary, but gives proof that people need to be aware of. It is time to go back to simpler living and home gardens. This documentary, shows and tells about big industries that treat animals inhumanely, gives alternatives to feed lot raising of our meat supply, gives us options and tells us what to look for in our foods. I believe that this documentary will open peoples eyes to the preservatives and additives in our everyday foods, and educate people on the alternatives available. Another important "must read" is "The Omnivores Dilemna" by Michael Pollan... this movie goes with this book. much of what he says in the book is in this documentary. If you care about your nutrition, what you put into your body, and the results of such, read this book and buy this movie! It will NOT be a waste of your time or money! 12/04/2011
