About this item

Four men and a girl crash land on the red planet after their rocketship suffers severe damage in a meteor storm. Once on Mars they discover an advanced civilization living in vast underground cities. Seemingly benevolent, the Martians welcome the Earthmen with open arms and offer to assist them in repairing their rocket. But all is not as it seems. A sinister plot is uncovered that could mean the annihilation of Earth by an army of invading Martians! This classic 1951 science fiction drama was the first color motion picture about a journey to Mars. Produced by Academy Award(R)-winning producer Walter Mirisch in other-worldly hues of two-color Cinecolor, "Flight To Mars" is '50s nostalgia at its imaginative best and is a must for sci-fi aficionados. As exciting as a Saturday matinee and a warm and wonderful journey into Atomic Age cinema lore.

Theatrical trailer, Photo gallery, Interview.

This being put out by image entertainment is a little disappointing due to the quality of the picture, other than that i really like this one. I collect old sci-fi and horror movies i grew up watching, this is an old movie and thats what i prefer over todays movis. Good actors camron mitchell, morris ankrum are well known for these old movies, if you like sci-fi you should check this one out.

I saw this movie when I was younger at the Theater and is really not a scary movie at all. There are no gory monsters or love scenes in this movie other than a couple of minor fights on Mars. I have been collecting some of the older SCI-FI movies I remember. It is about 5-6 people(scientists, etc) blasting off in a spaceship to head to Mars before the government stops them. Once they reached Mars, there ship was slightly damaged, and discoverd Martian huminoid people that lived in an underground city. You see a view of the city for about 20 seconds, rest of the time they are in various rooms/labs. The Martians agreed to fix the spaceship, but also wanted to take over the ship once complete and go to Earth to conquer and live. Their energy supplies are being depleted. The Earth group find out what the Martians are planning and get the ship ready, but don't tell the Martians it is ready. There is a small conflict at the end, but they get away with a couple of Martian alies that helped get away. This movie is not bad for the year it was made. Some special effects. Like other spaceship movies, the ship had allot of room and no pressure suits while in the ship. The seating in each of these movies was unique also. The quality of this DVD movie is very good. The acting I thought is very good compared to some. If you like older spaceship movies to planets, this one you might like. ScifibufDT
