USE THE RIGHT BATTERIES AND IT WORKS GREAT!!!!! Rayovac batteries and some other brands have positive terminals that are too short to make a connection in the crane. We took our first one back thinking it didn't work and the replacement failed also. In our frustration, we looked at the reviews and found one that mentioned the battery problem. Guess what type of batteries we were trying to use.....Rayovacs! We robbed some out our our TV remotes to get it working. It was then we notice that Kirkland brand batteries will not work either. I had never noticed that all terminals were not alike. 01/24/2012
My son LOVES this toy! My son plays with Cranky and his other Thomas trains for long periods of time. Its sturdy and worth the price. 01/09/2012
My grand son has not stopped playing with this toy since he opened it on Christmas day.He loves it!! He's 4 yrs old and uses the remote control like a pro. It was the best buy I have ever made, to date. 01/07/2012
Wonderful toy if you use Duracell batteries My grandson got Cranky for Christmas but it did not work. Was ready to take it back to the store until I started reading reviews. That's when I discovered the Rayovac batteries we had in Cranky were the wrong kind. I got Duracell the next day and was happily surprised that was all that was wrong! My grandson was thrilled and has not stopped playing with Cranky. It's a fun toy for him (and me when he'll let me play with it!) He loves the sound effects and lifting other toys with the hook on Cranky! Highly recommend it. 12/28/2011
