Fisher-Price Soothing Motions Glider 4.6 5 142 156
Lifesaver for Infants This item was a huge lifesaver for the first 6 weeks of my newborns life. She slept in this all the time. I used this as an alternative to getting a bassinet. I didn't want yet another piece of baby furniture to clutter up the house, so this worked great. Our baby was born with both collar bones broken, so we had to keep her swaddled all the time and this worked really well for her to sleep in even when swaddled. Since she was swaddled I wasn't able to use the buckle to buckle her in, but the seat sets pretty deep, so there was no worry of her falling out of it. Even at 6 weeks old I didn't have to buckle her in all the time because of how deep the seat is, but I did start to buckle her in around the 6 week age since she was starting to squirm more. She slept in the glider really well at any time of the day. The batteries lasted a long time too. It wasn't until about the 6th week that I had to change them and we would have the glider motion going all night long most nights as well as during the day for her naps. I would recommend this to any new parent; it is a very snuggly fit for the baby and big enough for older babies also. The only thing I wish it had was a vibration option. My baby is now 2 months old. She doesn't sleep in it over night now, but still takes naps in it sometimes although she is now enjoying her bouncy more because it vibrates. 09/01/2007
A mothers helper As a mother of 4 mostly grown children of my own, I am "starting over" as a mom to newborn foster babies. There are many new and exciting products out there now and this is one that I use daily. With 2 preemies that have reflux, this is extremely helpful in getting them to sleep and be comfortable. It is much more comfortable for sleeping than sitting semi-upright in a harder swing or carseat. The soothing motion is also helpful to get them to sleep and keep them asleep. With the straps to secure them it is much safer than elevating their beds or mattresses and having them slide down. At this point I only wish I had 2 of them! They share the one we have, and both like the hanging animals. They coo and smile at them. I am a NICU nurse and it reminds me of a glider that we had in our nursery that rocks the clear bassinet back and forth. The babies all loved it. The only negative I have is that it doesn't plug in to electricity. We have a Power Plus swing by Fisher Price and I love that it plugs in. We go through so many batteries when I have 2 newborns at the same time and use swings/gliders, activity gyms, etc. all the time. There's usually at least one swing or glider going. I definitely recommend this to new moms. I have bought or been given 6 or more swings over the last 2 1/2 years and this replaces them except for the Power Plus that I am also currently using. I don't know how long it will be before they outgrow it, in my situation I will reuse it over and over again with new babies. My oldest one now is 5 mos old and weighs 13 lbs. His corrected age is 2 1/2 months old. I haven't raised up the back yet with the strap, so I'm sure that will keep it in use longer still. It's also great with little babies, my 2 month old, 8 lb baby does well in it also. I think it would have worked well when I first got them at 4 and 5 lbs. As a "professional" baby person, I love it and will get lots of use from it. It also has several options for music types and volume. GREAT PRODUCT!!! 01/25/2009
My daughter and i both love this glider. When she was just born this is the only place she would sleep until she was about 2-3 mo old and she then began sleeping in her crib. The batteries last so long which made me happy since they are expensive! I also have one for my baby sitter and my daughter is now 7mo old and still enjoys it. I use it for feeding time and just for her to play in and I would definitely recommend this product to any new mom it really helped me! 08/22/2007
A lifesaver My son did nearly all of his sleeping for the first few months in this glider. He cried anywhere else but this glider could rock him to sleep. He's almost 5 months old now and still takes naps in it when he's fussy. We had this glider running almost constantly for two months before the batteries needed replacing. 07/24/2007
