I purchased the Little People Garage for my grandsons' 1st birthday. It was the one present that he did not get bored with and played with non-stop. The day after his birthday, the first thing he did after getting up, was head straight to the garage and play with it. I am so happy that I purchased it for him. Thanks Walmart.com for making my grandsons birthday a hit!!!!

This is a great toy! We just purchased this for our 1 year old and he and his sister, who is 4, have a great time playing with this toy. It's a great bonding time for them. They love to make the cars go down the ramp as fast as possible. It is bigger than I expected, and very easy to assemble. And Yes, this toy is not like those that we grew up with, but hey we are not the kids anymore! As long as they love it, that's all that counts. We would definitely purcahse this toy again.

I have to say my initial reaction to this toy was disappointment. First, it was VERY difficult and time consuming to put together. The directions were a bit unclear, and lining up the pieces, ramps and holes for the screws was a bit of a chore. Here are my complaints: As many other reviewers have said, the elevator just plain stinks! It take a lot of effort to get it to go up and down, and to actually get it to stay put on the top levels. I don't like that the tow truck with driver doesn't clear the elevator on the top landing and ends up knocking the driver out every time. The second floor seems like a waste of space. Would have liked if the cars could go down the ramp from either level as there isn't much other purpose to that second floor. What use is a parking lot for a toddler? However, none of those things matter to my 17 month old son, he has had a ball playing with it since he got it on Christmas morning. All in all, I guess I just wish there was "more" to it. Seems like a lot of space and construction for not a lot of toy.

I picked this up the other day for my 2 year old son. I think I was more excited than he was because I remembered playing with similar Fisher-Price toys when I was a kid. My excitement soon withered, however. Firstly, I couldn't seem to put the thing together. It took more strength and manual dexterity than I had. I'd been able to assemble computer chairs with more ease than this child's toy. Secondly, while the toy is harder to put together than the 1980's model I grew up with it has FEWER features. There's no spinning handle to make the lift move up and down. There's no exit ramp to the second floor. And, this might seem a strange complaint, but I don't like the fact the drivers have BOTH their hands full when they're supposed to be driving! Thirdly, this toy is not as sturdy I would like for the age range it was designed for. The only really good thing I can say about this toy is that it is done up in bold, clean, bright colours.

This looks great and my son loves garages with elevators. However, he and I were sorely disappointed that neither of us can operate the elevator with ease! I have to use two hands and press hard to get it to move up and he can't get it to at all. He is over 2 and this is supposed to be suitable for 1-4 year olds. Also, the tow truck it comes with has a little man in it. If you bring him in the truck to the top floor he doesn't clear the frame! On the second floor, you can't push a car over the lip of the roadway so it can't exit at all except through the elevator. Not to mention the gas pump is half stuck under the roadway as it loops around. It does however seem sturdy enough, but what good is a toy you can't play with? For such a big toy you ought to be able to use the whole thing. He got it as a present, or I'd have tried to return it. At least he's too young to be disappointed for long. Bottom line, durable but poorly designed.

My two-year old grandson loves this garage. It came with two cars with a Little People in each, one of the cars makes car noises, He can use his Matchbox and Hotwheels with it as well. The elevator goes up and down, had to show him how to use it, but he got the hang of it. There's two ramps and two levels to park the cars on. It took me a while to put together, one of the ramps gave me hard time, but it was worth the effort. My five-year old granddaughter even enjoys playing with it with her brother.

I got this for my son on his second birthday. He LOVES it. It keeps him busy so I have time to myself. Great for kids who love to play with cars! He likes to use his Matchbox cars on it too!

This toy is probably a prime example of "does not improve with time". I still have the old 70's version of this toy at my parents' house, and that set seems to hold my 3 year old son's interest a lot more than this one ever has. First off, it comes with a car, a tow truck (that makes sounds) and 2 "guys". That's not enough accessories in my opinion. A few more cars and people would really add to the set. Second, the elevator where you take the cars to the top tends to stick and is sometimes hard for a child to operate. On the old 70's version it was a crank that wound around and that didn't seem to stick (and still doesn't all these years later). I still love the Little People sets and would recommend this to a friend, but I had to buy an expansion pack of people to add to this, and my son uses his other cars from other sets or his matchbox cars to add to it. It's a little too boring with just the stuff it comes with.

This toy seems to be well made. My daughter loves to keep trying to climb on top of it and it hasn't broken yet....of course, we don't let her stay up there. She loves to put the cars and everything else she can find down the ramps or down the shaft for the elevator. She also uses the top deck as a little table for putting her toys. My major complaint is that the elevator must be lifted or pushed down by hand with a little ledge on the side. Unfortunately it doesn't move easily so we have to do it for her for now (16 mo's old). It's actually annoyingly difficult for _me_ to move it. The old one (when I was a kid) had some sort of crank that moved the platform and I remember it working much better. My only other 'complaint' is very minor. Cars can't get from the second floor deck to the ramp. Not important for early play but might hamper imagination/story type play.

I remember this toy from many years ago (I think I had one but I know my teenagers did) and was very excited for my two year old to get this for his birthday. It took a little bit to put it together but he played with it for an hour straight. Anyone who has a toddler knows it can be hard to hold their attention but this toy does. There are many things for them to explore such as the ramp, elevator, and gas pump. I also like that it comes with two vehicles and drivers. The only thing I remember from the original is that when they went up the elevator it would dump them onto the ramp for a continuous ride and now there is a large top floor. I could be wrong in my memory but my son still loves it. This is a great purchase and I would recommend it for boys and girls. I wouldn't be surprised if my son plays with it for several years to come.
