Rated 2 out of 5★ by Hard to put together! This toy was purchased for our 1 year old's 1st christmas present from Santa. This toy was so hard for me to put to put together on Christmas Eve. I had my husband pull while I pushed down to get the elevater roof together. The ramps were hard to put together and they still won't stay together all the way.The 1 year old plays with it some & the 6 year old puts all his other small cars on it.Also, the noisy truck can wake up a sleeping baby when picked up at night! 01/18/2010
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Elevator hard to move This toy seems to be well made. My daughter loves to keep trying to climb on top of it and it hasn't broken yet....of course, we don't let her stay up there. She loves to put the cars and everything else she can find down the ramps or down the shaft for the elevator. She also uses the top deck as a little table for putting her toys.My major complaint is that the elevator must be lifted or pushed down by hand with a little ledge on the side. Unfortunately it doesn't move easily so we have to do it for her for now (16 mo's old). It's actually annoyingly difficult for _me_ to move it. The old one (when I was a kid) had some sort of crank that moved the platform and I remember it working much better. My only other 'complaint' is very minor. Cars can't get from the second floor deck to the ramp. Not important for early play but might hamper imagination/story type play. 12/04/2009
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Grandson Loves it, but We got the FP Race n Ramps for our 1-1/2 year old Grandson with some hesitation after reading some mixed reviews. Most popular complaint was that the ramp kept falling apart. also, most folks compared it to the original 1970 version that they may of had. We had one. If you never had the original, you would be less critical of the new toy's fratures. Our grandson loves it. The ramps stay intact as long as you properly snap them together, and take the time to assemble the 3 levels (w/all the screws) according to instructions. It's a bit complicated to assemble, but if done properly, the construction seems quite durable.Of course, I does not compare to the original, (but what does, anymore?) which came fully assembled on a sturdy hardboard base, with 4 cars w/ drivers and a parking space for each car. A crank lifted the elevator and the cars rolled off a bit more smoothly..As far as the 2008 version. You have to push the elevator, not crank it. It's a bit jerky. It could have had an extra car or two, but li'l Luke don't care. The car and tow truck go down the ramp well. Make sure that the driver is shoved securely into his seat or he might fly out. Matchbox type cars seem to slide down the ramps fine, also. 01/06/2009
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Oldie and still a Goodie I remember this toy from many years ago (I think I had one but I know my teenagers did) and was very excited for my two year old to get this for his birthday. It took a little bit to put it together but he played with it for an hour straight. Anyone who has a toddler knows it can be hard to hold their attention but this toy does. There are many things for them to explore such as the ramp, elevator, and gas pump. I also like that it comes with two vehicles and drivers. The only thing I remember from the original is that when they went up the elevator it would dump them onto the ramp for a continuous ride and now there is a large top floor. I could be wrong in my memory but my son still loves it. This is a great purchase and I would recommend it for boys and girls. I wouldn't be surprised if my son plays with it for several years to come. 07/22/2009
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Good Toy The directions on this toy were very clear and I found it very easy to put together. After it is all assembled it is very sturdy and a good size toy. My complaint so far is that the garage is very difficult to move up and down. It is very jerky and if there is a car on it, it bounces all over the place and flips over. I have a hard time moving it and my children can't do it at all. It is one of the fun parts of the toy so the fact that they can't use it is very upsetting. I would probably try a different brand that has a functioning garage if I could do it again. 09/26/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Baby boy loves it! I got this toy for my son when he was 8 months old, and he is just now, at 14 months enjoying it. He makes car sounds, raises and lowers the elevator and pushes his cars or blocks down the ramp. It holds his attention for 10 minutes at a time, which is great for my son. 04/12/2012
Rated 2 out of 5★ by Busy Betty The last two fisher price toys I have bought for my children have been a disappointment. This toy is fun, but flimsy and the elevator sticks and won't go up and down without great effort. Compared to the fisher price toys my mom still have from when I was young, they are a totally waste of money. The toys from twenty years ago are in great shape and much more fun for my children. 04/06/2010
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Not as good as the original I bought this thinking my kids would love it as much as I loved the one I had as a child. The red ramp comes apart each time the children play with it. My kids like the cars that come with it and the way they roll down better than any other feature it has. The elevator is frustrating for my little kids as they have to move all little fingers and cars out of the way before it moves up or down. It is missing the people compartment on the side of the elevator that the original had. 10/06/2008
