Not Slate but truly is the next best thing! Growing up my parents have always owned a slate pool table, so it's what i grew up on. I was worried that this table would roll slow or not be level, because it isn't slate. After receiving the table and putting it together within a hour, I started to play on it. The balls roll true, and pretty fast. For someone who plays on a lot of slate tables, you would probably notice, but the roll is by no mean slow. About as close as you can get to a slate table. Assembly was easy and all hardware and tools are included. The felt is nice and tight and the overall look is excellent (doesn't look cheap). Unless you are going to purchase a slate table, don't waste your time looking at any others. The accessories are a little cheap, but only the Brush truly needs to be replaced. It also looks pretty big for a 7 foot table, everything is proportionate. 01/28/2012
