I bought three Family Mobile phones and activation kits for myself and my two college-aged kids. For whatever reason, we had some extended difficulty getting the third phone activated, which entailed numerous calls to the customer service number and another 40 mile trip to the Walmart store to exchange the activation kit for a new one. It was a big headache that went on over 4 days. But the GREAT thing was, the problem was a technical one that was no one's fault, but the customer service throughout was fantastic. No long phone waits to talk to a customer service rep, they always called back when they told me they would, all were very nice and knowledgeable. Honestly, I have never dealt with tech support that was as prompt and easy to communicate with. So thanks, Walmart. Who would have thought such a huge company would be the first I've dealt with to have really excellent tech support and customer service? Thumbs up.

Have had Walmart family mobile for several years now. Have 3 lines with this plan and pay less than 2 lines anywhere else. Hope this never goes away.

I have to admit, I was a little hesitate to leave Verizon and try Walmart Family Mobile. It has been a week and I am impressed. I did this to save money and have no regrets. There are no drop calls, internet is good via WiFi and 3G, and customer service speaks clear English and is polite. Instead of buying Walmart phones, I purchased mine, used on Ebay. Be sure the phones are unlocked. You can either purchase them unlocked on Ebay, find a business that can do it for you, or purchase the code from an honest business and later follow instructions for that particular phone posted on Youtube. The “Cliq XT” and “Cliq MB200” both work great on their network. I activated both phones on the Walmart Family Mobile network through their customer service and found it to be easy. I live in Concord CA and have no issues with calls or internet here. Hope this reviews helps those like me considering trying another network to save money.

I got it activated about a month ago.. It works great around where I live and work. I have not yet to go anywere else yet.. For $45 for unlimited talk and text, WHAT A DEAL!! $25 for any aditional lines (up to 5). I got the $40 webpak along with the activation kits, and i dont have to keep paying for webpaks per month.. Just only the talk and text. If I am running out of data I can 611 or go online and refill the data. Also, you dont have to use a Family Mobile cell phone to use the service! Get the Activation Kit and find a UNLOCKED gsm phone (phone that takes a sim card.. I.E - NOT iphone 4--> = mini-sim) and stick your sim card in it and you should be all set to use.

    • A. Do not let them sell you the minutes until they run out on the activation kit because it include minutes. ( No,) do not buy the minites at that time.

    • A. Ok.. Little bit of confusion here... the activation kit comes with the sim card, activation card and manuals. NO PHONE. The one line (or selected 2-5 line) COMES WITH the phones and whats stated in the activation kit.. And finaly Family Mobile DONT US MINUTES!! - It is UNLIMITED talk and text ($45 for first line, $25 for additional line - up to 5 lines). - I hope this helps.

    • A. The kit comes with the phone, a standard wall-charger, and 20 minutes airtime. You will need to purchase additional prepaid minutes -- it is recommended that you do this right away and activate at the time that you activate the phone. The phone kit also comes with a booklet of coupons that you can use towards the purchase of minutes. And as a bonus this phone kit comes with double-minutes for life.

    • A. This is a post-pay service, just pay for the sims and activation kit, sign up online and use, you get billed at the end of the month.

    • A. The activation kit is only to get the service started. You still need to select which plan you would like. You only need to purchase the activation kit once.

I would like to get a htc hd2 but I am not really wanting to go back to paying close to 100 dollars a month for service. When I have been paying 45 with straight talk but I want a nicer phone, I am looking at all of my options and wanted to check on this one first.

    • A. I used to have T-Mobile service (for a short period of time) so I had a Nokia 5230 that I bought from T-Mobile for that service. I was able to use it. I believe if you have a phone with a Sim card, you will be able to use this service.

    • A. Actually, if the phone is not Family Mobile, it HAS TO BE unlocked. T-mobile and Family Mobile are different. Walmart Family Mobile is powered by t-mobile.. using only their towers. I have Family Mobile and my phone is a t-mobile htc mytouch Fender edition and it had to be unlocked to use the Family Mobile sim card. My phone didnt read the sim card until it was unlocked.

    • A. With Family Mobile, you would get unlimited talk & text for $45. Add a line for $25 ( up to 5 lines). As well, you could add a webpak to get data and pix messaging (pix = $0.05 / web = 1MB - appx. 80 web pages). Also, if you find an unlocked htc hd2 phone, you can use it with Family Mobile or any other unlocked phone. - I hope this helps.

    • A. No you cant switch your T-Mobile plan for Family Mobile's plan because Family Mobile is in competition with T-Mobile... However, you can drop T-Mobile to Family Mobile.. or vice-versa. - I hope this helps.

    • A. Yes, assuming you are leaving T-Mobile for this, T-Mobile does not offer a competitive plan, I tried to get them to match before switching, they would not.

    • A. No. I called TMobile and tried myself. They said they are two separate things and that they are not part of the Walmart family plan. So you would have to cancel and then move to this plan. Your phones will work though
