I am very Picky and I love this pot

    Customer review by Dino3721

    5.0 stars by Dino3721

I will start with- I am very picky about my coffee pots. The price is great, and it is the perfect size for me. It makes 2 large coffee cups. There are a few things I would change. I like it is easy to fill, pot does not drip water or coffee. The basket is easy to empty. Coffee is good and hot. I like the beep when it is finished. I use paper filters and I can just grab the filter and put it in the trash, no drips. I use paper filters, so the permanent one it comes with will be a nice backup. There are a few things I would change. I do not care about the water filter- I will not change it. I do wish the program button was a One push to turn on the program. You have to hold the program button for 5 seconds, then hit it again to turn on timer. That is a little weird. The fill lid, does feel a little weak- but I am careful with it. I plan on buying another one- for a backup. I love it. For one coffee drinker in the house- it is great.

    sweet little coffee maker

I too had the General Electric coffee maker from Walmart, but I broke the glass carafe. I tried two others before purchasing the Farberware 5 cupper. I tried the cusinart 5 cup, stainless steel carafe coffee maker, thinking the carafe would never break again, but the coffee tasted awful. Then I tried the Mr. Coffee 5 cupper. Nice looking, but again awful coffee...probably due to the flat filter. (I believe the cone shape makes better coffee.) So back to Walmart I went to get another GE. None there but this was closest thing. I purchased it and am so pleased. This one is even better than the GE in that it is programable. The coffee brewed to 180 degrees...not bad for a $20. coffee maker and it has a mesh filter basket so there is no need to purchase paper filters. I prefer the paper to the mesh, but it's nice to have for when I run unexpectedly! Also, the carafe pours nicely. I hate it when I have more water on the counter that in the reservoir.

    Nice Coffee Maker

    Customer review by SooperFreak

    5.0 stars by SooperFreak

my old 12 cup coffee maker died last night so i went online and read reviews here. i went off to walmart this morning and saw this one sitting out on display. the stainless steel is nice looking, it's compact. the first thing i did was check to see how the lid felt. if it was flimsy feeling i wasn't going to get it. i hate flimsy lids, and assume it's a cheap-made product. this little maker doesn't look or feel cheap. i can't say about it's durability because i've only had it for about 6 hours, but i can say it makes a great cup of joe. the clock it easy to set, so is the auto feature. one interesting thing to note when setting it to brew later......the time you set it for, say 7:15am, it will be ready at that time, not start brewing at that time. i've never had a programmable coffee maker so i don't know if that normal or not. i just assumed it would start at the time i set, not be ready. not that it matters, in fact i love it! i usually drink two cups of coffee within an hour to hour and a half. the warming plate kept the coffee nice and hot. i will keep the wire screen filter as a back up. i have some #2 cone filters i want to use up and they work nicely with this.

    • I've never filled it past three I usually fill it to the 2 cup mark and it makes one perfect cup of coffee It is a very small pot and you would have to fill it to the top to get 2 brewed cups of coffee

    • You can brew as little water as you put into it, it's got markings in the reservoir area that indicate how many cups of water you have in there (except their cups are apparently 5 oz instead of 8)

    • No problem. That is the nice thing about cone shaped coffee basket-you do not need to fill the basket with coffee to get good results.

    • It holds 17 ounces of water (one standard bottle of spring water or filtered water), and for me (a big guy) that's ONE CUP. For most ladies it's about TWO CUPS. For very old English ladies drinking from those tiny, delicate china cups, it's FOUR or FIVE CUPS.

    • The "cups" are only four ounces in reality. I used it to make a large regular cup of coffee and it has to be filled. Two smaller cups if the mug is regular size.

Just purchased this coffee maker and upon setting it up, noticed that when the carafe is in place the lid pops up. It doesn't latch. take out the pot it drops down. Taking it back and checking another just in case I got a fluke, but just wondered if anyone else had the issue. The lid just lies down level but doesn't latch which would be fine but it sticks up about 1/4 inch with the pot in. thanks.

    • First one I bought the plastic latch was broken upon opening it up. Returned it and got one with the latch not broken upon using it the lid pops up when you put the coffee pot in you put the lid down some times it stays down then pops up the lid. The spring release valve that lets the water go into the pot pushes the filter up to open the lid. Called mfg. They said never heard of this problem maybe they should look at this webpage. They said to return it back to the store bad design.

    • yes, it was a bit tricky to keep the lid closed. You have to jiggle the basket around. I hope yours lasts longer than mine did. 10 months and dead.

    • It's a bit sensitive ... just wiggle the filter and filter holder around a bit to settle them in.

    • Update: upon further inspection I found out that the latch was broken so after shaking the coffee maker a bit I heard and found the piece, so yes, I took it back. Have yet to purchase another, just returned.

    • Sort of. That happened a couple times before I noticed that you have to have the filter in precisely the right position or the lid doesn't close. Make sure the tab on the filter is aligned with the matching notch.

I just bought this coffee maker, and I LOVE it! But, I'm having a hard time making a good cup of coffee. I know it's not the maker itself, because I've always struggled with making a good cup of coffee. I really like the Dunkin Donuts brand of coffee, but any suggestions at all would be great! THANK YOU!
    by MalY17 2/5/2014
    • I tried ALL the Folgers coffees (hate Dunkin Donuts and won't spend the money on fancy coffees), and the winner BY FAR is their "Colombian." Don't pay more than $7 for the LARGE canister. I brew one big, 16-ounce mug at a time (just put in two level scoops of grounds and pour in one standard bottle of purified or spring water). I pour out the last ounce of water in the pot because it has grounds in it. Good coffee! For even better coffee, go to Burger King ... they use Seattle's Best #3 beans and will brew a cup fresh for you (59 cents for us seniors!) ... this is good stuff! Seattle's Best (owned by Starbucks) is what you get when you order just a simple coffee at Starbucks, but it always tastes BURNT there ... I think their machines brew too hot. Anyway, I bought a small bag of SB #3 beans, ground them at home, and brewed them in this machine ... and, guess what? Not nearly as good as at Burger King! So I'm sticking with Folger's Colombian at home, and my 2nd cup of the day is at Burger King.

    • This coffee maker has a flaw and it does not heat the water to optimal temperature. If just does not get hot enough to get the right flavor from any coffee

    • I use the common method of 2 Tbsp's, (1/8 cup) to 6 oz water. I also use medium to dark roast coffee. It's all a matter of what you prefer.

    • Try Maxwell House French Roast and try upping the amount of coffee you use . If you don't put enough coffee in it , it will make a lousy cup of coffee . The more the merrier . TheReaper!

    • Hi! To me, there is nothing worse than weak coffee (I jokingly tell people that would rather drink hot water - ha!) I am NOT a big fan of DD coffee, but that said, If use the scoop that came with the coffeemaker, 1 suggest 1 rounded scoop per number of cups to be brewed - if you are only brewing 2 cups or less, I suggest making those heaping scoops. (if the coffee is too strong, you can always add a little water.) You might like Maxwell House FRENCH ROAST, as I think it is great coffee for the money! Good luck!

    • Buy a coffee scoop, sold at most stores, and use one scoop per two cups of water. I usually make 8 cups in the morning, and with 4 (full) scoops of coffee grounds, this always makes wonderful coffee.
