The Good. The bad. And the ugly. THE GOOD:Excellent value at $85! SUITCASE: Interior dimensions are about 12X20X7. It weighs 4 lbs whereas my Samsonite weighs 7 lbs. I have practiced packing for an important one week trip with men's casual and dress clothes. I can lightly pack the suitcase with one suit and 4 sport coats (size 38) and 2 dress slacks with room to spare in the inner pockets (no compression to minimize wrinkling), with 6 pairs of thin dress socks, and 6 pairs of men's briefs packed between the bottom liner and the soft siding (dead space where the handle rack runs under the lining). SMALL DUFFEL: I can pack one full length dress trench coat, 1/2" of papers, bottles of meds, pocket note book, 2 dress slacks in the small duffel without compression with room to spare (stuff a few small items in still). Think of the duffel bag as a large square purse - you fill it from the end not the top. TOILETRY KIT BAG: I'm opting to leave the toiletry kit bag behind because my 2 carry on items will be the suitcase and the duffel. But the toiletry bag will hold all of a man's toiletries plus bottles of meds and nothing else - average sized purse. Could also be used as a man-purse (seriously - just remove the metal hook inside the lid). PLUS 21" LARGE DUFFEL: I also bought the matching 21" duffel bag from Walmart Online as well. Same style as the small duffel in this 3-piece set. I can pack it with 2 jeans, an x-large shoe box with another sport coat in it, 2 pairs of dress shoes, all toiletries, 8 dress shirts, 2 t-shirts, ties & belts (stuffed inside my shoes) in the main compartment. The 2 end pockets are about 1" wide max which fit some odds and ends.All bags look good packed, unless you stuff the sides then it looks like you're carrying basketballs. Under bright light, the suitcase has a very slight bluish tint to it. All the duffel bags match perfectly. The set looks good together. The handles of the small duffel and the toiletry bag fit over the extended handle of the suitcase roller.The suitcase and the extra 21" duffel (not included in this set) have almost identical exterior measurements (when you lay the duffel on it's side). However, the 21" duffel will obviously hold more because there are no wheels, handles or firm edges. The exterior measurements on the web site are accurate. The suitcase and the 21" duffel are within carry on size with an inch to spare. Deduct at least 1" depth from the suitcase for its interior measurements.THE BAD:If you need heavy-duty/heavy-wear luggage this isn't it. Weakest point of the 3-piece luggage set and the 21" large duffel is definitely the durability of the suitcase. This is an $85 luggage set - not a $450 3-piece Samsonite set. The suitcase is basically duffel-bag-material stretched over a square frame with plastic round inserts for corners. I would never check this bag - it would be crushed and/or torn by the first heavy suitcase that lands on top of it. I will check the large duffel (soft side with jeans etc) and carry on the suitcase. For most air flight trips I would just take the suitcase or large duffel and the small duffel with no checked bags. I now have 4 matching bags to choose from for any trip. For a short air flight trip with casual clothes I would take the large duffel as carry on and either the small duffel or the toiletry bag as my personal item. For dress clothes, I'd take the suitcase and the small duffel.I didn't like the extra strap for 'hooking' the duffel bag onto the suitcase for pulling - too easy to slip off and unnecessary metal weight so I removed it. Just pull the duffel handle over the suitcase handle for pulling. If you pack the suitcase AND the duffel heavy then I would not throw the duffel on top of the suitcase for pulling. Jjust carry the small duffel cause the handle and wheels are not that sturdy.Duh - the suitcase handle is not extra short. Press the button and pull out the handle, when it stops push the button again and it extends twice as long. Probably a bit short handle for tall guys though (I'm 5'8" and I fully extend the handle). Half extension is probably good for kids.The duffel bags have partial webbing for the ends which is see thru. So don't pack your white underwear at the end cause everybody on the plane can see it (discovered on first practice packing).Initially smells like petroleum products (probably what the fake leather is made out of). Just open everything up and let it air out. Good in about 5 days.A saw another buyer complain the duffel handle ripped on his first use. You MUST make sure you wrap the sewn side of the duffel handles to the INSIDE of the Velcro handle. Otherwise the first time you or the baggage handler grabs a loaded bag by the strap (versus the actual handle) you will rip the sewn side of the handle off - otherwise it is strong and riveted well.At first I kept getting the lining caught in the zippers. With a little practice I learned to lightly pull the zipper away from the bag as I zipped or unzipped and haven't caught the lining anymore.The max size for a "personal item" to carry on is 36" total dimensions. The small duffel size is 38" (width + depth + length). Since it is soft side I don't expect to get called on it by the airlines but I'll let you know in about 3 weeks.Note: Koskin Leather = Fake Leather. It is not real leather (duh - it's only $85 guys).AND THE UGLY:I find nothing ugly about this 3-piece set or the 21" matching duffel - esthetically, functionally, or quality.I especially like the looks and functionality of the duffel bags. For $85 it is a 'disposable' set of good looking luggage even if the suitcase were to fall apart in 3 years. PS: I hit the curb with the wheel of my Samsonite set the first time I used it 25 years ago and have been dragging that non-turning wheel around ever since. I like this set better because of looks and the suitcase is about an inch smaller so I won't have to fight to get it under the seat or overhead bin like the Samsonite. I recommend this set for the casual traveler. I do not recommend this set for a hard core traveler. 03/16/2012
