Since this portable Exergen thermometer can capture temperatures with a gentle stroke of forehead, you can use it to measure the temperature of your infant with ease. You just have to stroke it over your child's forehead and it will capture the heat from the temporal artery.
This temporal scanner thermometer can take 1000 readings in a single second and selects and displays the most accurate reading to you. The red LED light on the thermometer starts flashing when the correct scan appears and you can read it easily. The Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer is powered by a 9v battery. Easy Thermometer! My pediatrician office uses this thermometer on my baby, so I wanted one. I compared prices with other drug stores, Babies R Us, Target etc and they ran about $50. At Walmart.com it is $30, which is still a lot for a thermometer but a lot better than $50. It came in about three weeks from order date. 11/16/2007
Thermometer Excellent, exceeded my expectations. I was using an ear thermometer for past 3 years and every reading was different. With this one you only need one reading and it captures the highest temperature. My daughter had a virus the week I bought it and I was very pleased to have it at that time as it was much easier taking her temperature especially at night when she was asleep, takes only seconds. A must purchase for anyone with young kids. 11/14/2007
Great Idea, Easy to Use, Doesn't seem accurate I bought this product because the ease of use looked great, especially for a new baby. No need for a rectal thermometer, but wassuppose to be just as accurate.Pros:Easy to useFastCons:Temperature is not accurate. When taken with this product and a regular oral digital, the temporal thermometer was 1 to 1 1/2 degrees higher. Said my daughters temperature was 100.4 when it was only 99.0 orally. Have a friend who has this, though, and works great. Perhaps mine was not calibrated properly?Would totally love his thermometer if it gave an accurate temperature and there seems to be no way to calibrate it. 11/13/2007
