Great Battery for 2007 Chevy Silverado

Ended up with an Everstart Maxx 24FN from Wal-Mart after the OEM AC Delco battery died on my 2007 4x4 Silverado. The OEM battery was a group 48, and WM did not have this size in stock, but offered the 24FN as an alternative. I was concerned after the 24FN fitting (it is roughly 1.5 inches taller then the OEM battery) since the battery compartment is a tight squeeze, but it fit like a glove! For those concerned about the mfr of the battery, it is Johnson Controls (NOT Exide) and is listed at 750cca which beats the OEM battery which was only 600cca. Would highly recommend this battery to any late-model Chevy pickup owners looking to replace the stock AC Delco. Icing on the cake? It's also rated a BEST BUY by Consumer Reports (actually 9 different Everstart Maxx models made the CR recommeded list), beating out many other "brand" name batteries. Cost ($85) was also much less than competing batteries from Advance Auto Parts and AutoZone.

This is my second EverStart Battery from Walmart installed in my 1998 Toyota Camry 4-cylinder. The first Everstart lasted 7 (SEVEN) years!!! Can't beat seven years for a car battery living in the Midwest with both weather extremes. Guess the non-stop triple digit temperatures this summer finally did it in. Of course seven years ago I paid $39.95 now it's $84.97 but if it lasts seven years as the first one did I can live with it. Hope the quality hasn't diminished over the past seven years.

I was shocked that Walmart had changed their policy. You no longer get a prorated warranty after the 3 years..so this battery is a 3 year battery, after that you are on your own with a $90.00 battery. Even Autozone offer better warranties for 80.00 dollars....BEWARE!

This is my second 24fn battery. I purchased the first in July of 2007 for a 2005 Lexus RX330. The battery lasted 5 1/2 years without any problems. The battery definitely exceeded expectations. The fit was perfect for the vehicle and the price was far less than any competition - $85.00.

This is not very exciting, I got a little over 2 years before it wouldn't hold a charge I sure hope the 3 year warranty is valid and the next one is better.

    • A. "S" is for "South" and "N" is for "North." The "North" batteries are designed more for cold climates and are maintenance-free. Judging from the pictures, it looks like the "F" means "Reverse Polarity," meaning the positive red pole is on the left side instead of the right side. Other manufacturers use an "R" for "Reverse" instead of an "F." Ask at the store to be sure.

    • A. When purchasing a battery, make sure it is fresh and not one that has been sitting on the store shelf for a long time. You can find the date code on the battery case or on the label. Look for a code that begins with a letter of the alphabet (A through L) and is followed by a number. The letter "A" is the code for January, the letter "B" is the code for February, and so on. The letter "L" is the final letter and stands for December. Determine the manufacturing year by the numbers that follow the letter. A "0" means the battery was manufactured in 2000 and a "1" means 2001. For 2010 aa "10" will be stamped on the battery. This date ensures a quality battery with appropriate life and charge for purchasing.
