    Best Gate I Ever Bought
    4/4/2014

    Customer review by Nikki

    5.0 stars by Nikki

Mother of 4, oldest 19, youngest is 2. I've had every type of gate you can buy. My family has managed to break all of them until this one. My toddler can't open it, unlike most other walk-through gates. She figured them all out and I was at my wits end trying to keep her out of the kitchen and bathroom. I bought this one, and loved it so much, I just bought another. The latch will feel tight and hard to open at first, but you will soon get used to it, but your toddler will never be strong enough to work the latch, even if he/she can see how it's supposed to open.

    • No, he shouldnt be able to get through. my friend has this gate for 5 little dogs and 1 Lab to keep seperated from the cats, and they said that it works wonders. They have had to cut out one of the bars for the fat cats, but the pugs still cannot get through it....and their tiny kittens have trouble getting through the openings too. It can be used for pets as well as kids--because all the difference on a pet gate and a baby gate is the fact of the name. If you read any of the pet websites, it has the same gates as the ones for babies.....

    • The spaces between the bars are about 2 1/4 inches apart.

    • the bars are 2 1/2 inches apart if your dog is really small then it might, I have a 6wk old sheltie pup and she cannot get through the bars. And she is small

    • Since the widest gap is 2 1/4 inches, I don't think a chihuahua shouldn't be able to get through it unless they are really tiny!

    • If he can squeeze to 2 1/4". That's how far apart the bars are.

    • Space between bars is 2-1/4 inches. I have other gates my Chinese Crested puppy gets through but so far she hasn't gotten through this. She weighs about 11 pounds but is long and narrow with a small head. Your Chi may be able to get through.

    • Depending on how tiny he is, he may be able to squeeze through the bars on this one.

    • A very VERY small dog may just be able to squeeze its way through the gate. Its about 3.5 inches between bars.

Would it wake a baby if you had to open it and close it to check on the baby?
    by ProudMommyofKJ 2/6/2011
    • Nope - very quiet, especially if you open the latching mechanism when you close it. It does not slam shut.

    • This is a difficult question to ask. I would say its not that loud at all. However, what is loud to me may not be loud to you and vice versa. My advice to you as a mother myself. I would not make a home so quite that the slightest noise will wake him/her up. I've always kept the house noisy since the day my child was born. So when there is noises while he's sleeping, he doesnt wake up. Good luck!

    • It's pretty quiet, I doubt it would wake your baby when opened and closed properly.

    • No not unless the baby wakes at a pindrop. If you close it gently it makes no noise. if you slam it shut it will make a noise.

    • If you push the buttons in when you close it, it is very quiet. When noise isn't an issue you can just push it closed.

    • Only if you slam it! You can squeeze the buttons and push down the handle (the way you open it) to close it without any noise.

I have a 36" opening. I don't understand how you use the extension. I don't want to put any holes in the wall. But looking at the picture, I can't see how it would go on?
    by an anonymous customer 12/2/2010
    • no no holes needed ! u just turn the lil round nops till its tight to the wall
      by Bettylein6/17/2011

    • You can install it securely with tension, you don't have to put holes in the wall.
      by Alzubra4/23/2011
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • No the extention fits into the opening that you would put the tenson bracket and the tension bracket would go at the end of the extention and snug up against the wall. you only need hand pressure to tignten the tension bracket on the door facing or on the wall. Can be moved easily and installation takes only a fiew minutes. The tension bracket looks like the leveling screw on the bottom of a washer or dryer or refrigerator.

    • You don't have to put any holes into the wall to use the extension. The extension just slides into the gate and then you tighten it to fit your opening.

    • You don't have to use any holes. You just push the extension onto the gate itself. I have 2 extensions on mine ( one on each side).

    • NO Holes required! I had to use the extension on mine and it was so simple. You simply place the extension into the holes that are in the end of the gate where the original rubber ends go and then into the end of the extension go the rubber ends to fit snug against the walls. Hope this helps.

    • No drilling required. you remove the end caps on one side of the gate, slide the extension into the gate then reinstall the end caps onto the extension.
