    Waste of money

I can't understand why more people didn't find the previous review helpful. If I had only read it before making this purchase, I would have been been forewarned. The problem is the cardboard applicator. It just will not slide in once inserted. Sorry to be so frank, but you try to dry your fingers, un-insert to see what the problem is, and try and try again without success. They get tainted and you have to throw it away and try it again with another, then another, and soon you 're out a few bucks. You want to be "green" and you buy what says 'biodegradeable' but in this case you will be wasting your money. If they come out with new and improved cardboard applicators, I will try those.

I read the other reviews before buying these. I decided that, these tampons were the cheapest ones out there and, even if the applicator was really bad, I could use them like O.B. tampons if necessary (not even O.B.s are this cheap per tampon). I would rather use the applicator but, if that is what it takes to get tampons at this price that are useable, I'm up to the challenge. I decided I would try the applicator when I got these anyway. I have used tampons with cardboard applicators before where the cardboard would stick together and would make it near impossible as well as ones that bent from the pressure of my fingers. I was totally surprised that my experience with these weren't like many of the other peoples'. The applicator glided smoothly, no problem getting stuck or bending. I bought 5 more boxes because they totally exceeded my expectations. Thanks, Walmart, for putting out this product at this price:)

    Absolutely Useless

The applicator has a major design flaw. The part that is used to push the actual tampon out falls out into the toilet half the time or folds in half and then you have to start all over again. This is a waste of your money and time. Let's be real here - we aren't the happiest campers in the world when the time of the month arrives when tampons are necessary. Then you have a malfunctioning tampon - that is just the topper to the bad day. Either they need to redesign it or I would suggest spending the extra money and buying the Tampax brand.

we have a septic system and were wondering if it is safe to flush tampons? will they dissolve in our septic tank or are they going to plug our drain tile?

    • A. These Equate brand tampons are flushable and biodegradable. They will dissolve in the septic tank.

    • A. Never flush a tampon. No matter how "safe" the product may claim to be, there is always risk for damage especially with a septic tank. I would suggest a garbage can with a lid or a diaper genie be placed in the washroom for proper disposal.

    • A. Never flush an applicator, but the actual tampon itself should be fine, since it's just cotton and has a similar make up to toilet paper. However, if your toilets are prone to backing up, do not flush the tampon. They instantly absorb moisture and their shape will expand once they are discarded in a toilet. If your pipes or bowl are narrow or use "low flow" technology, flushing the actual tampon can be a gamble because there may not be enough pressure to get it down into the pipes.
