As always, you get what you pay for in this case. I say this positively here. There are far cheaper resins but they have more bubbles, can smell bad (even when dry) and cure too quickly. It does everything the bottle claims. The slow cure time does not seem to be hindered by weather. Be careful, when the resin is thin it heats up a lot more and cures very quickly. It is better to mix it in a small container where the fluid is as high as it is wide. It takes about two hours to dry enough that you can place things on top of the resin. Before that, everything just sinks. No smell once dry. All resins contain bubbles, this one included. However, in this one the bubbles are a lot smaller and harder to spot. The slow cure time allows the larger ones to come to the surface and escape. If you do not want bubbles in your finished product you probably still want to run this stuff through a vacuum chamber. Thankfully this stuff cures so slowly that you have plenty of time to work with it after pulling it out of the vacuum chamber.

I absolutely love this product! I'm very new to resin work, but my pieces are coming out like glass! Very easy to use. Fun to play with!

I have used this in the past and it was quite strong smelling so I was surprised it was low odor. There is a smell but it’s not overbearing. If you are using this for the first time, make sure you get the disposal measuring cups so that you accurately mix it. Also have a place prepared in advance to place the items in a dust free environment or cover them to keep air particles from settling on your project. I use the picnic mesh dome covers or plate covers. The best thing about this product is you can practically make anything. I’m working on glass looking knobs for my dresser.

First of all I was sorely disappointed that it advertised 16 oz. of epoxy. In that, I expected each bottle to contain that volume, which they didn't and it makes me very angry at the way people sell items. Aside that, The product worked very well, the dry and set times are pretty long, but the finish works great. I woodwork and I used the product to fill open holes in a wooden tabletop, creating a clear "window" into the wood below. The outcome was stunning and after all was done the table looks fantastic. The epoxy is 1:1 so any sort of measuring container will do. It is hard to calculate the volume of a hole particularly one that has no set sides. I wasted a lot because of this. I personally found that using the discarded cups from Nyquil for the most part works well. The small volumes are perfect and limit the waste I had. Once done with your container, mixing and pouring, you can simply wipe the entire inside of it out with a paper towel and reuse the measure cups. I found I had to sand a lot of the boards, if this is the case you need to smooth the epoxy, it is fairly easy to bring back to clear shine. Sand it at 80-220g then again with 1000-2000g and you have a glass clear finish. Overall I am pleased with the product, except for cost, volume and set time the epoxy is great.

This is a great product at a great price. Priced higher at other stores. This is a fun product with endless possibilities. Follow the instructions perfectly. Have plenty of stirring or touching instruments available or use gloves. I spilled a drop of it and kept getting it on my fingers. If it's already starting to harden, soap and warm water doesn't remove it. You have to use alcohol. No problems - just sticky.

I mixed it 50/50 and it is not getting hard, it is still sticky after 5 days. What can i do to make it harden up ?

    • A. Exact, precise measurements is key to making this product work. First measure exactly in two separate containers, then stir each with a craft stick of wand for 2 minutes, then combine and stir again for an additional 1 minute. Then allow to set for 5 minutes, pour and within 24-48 hours it will be hardened. Did you follow the instructions?

    • A. Something went wrong during your mixing. There really is no option but to start over if it is sticky all the way through. If I was to hazzard a guess, it was not mixed thoroughly enough. When this happens, the unmixed portion is less dense and floats to the top (outside surface) and remains sticky since this is such a slow curing resin. You may find that there is a hard surface beneath the sticky surface if you can afford to take off that much thickness. If so, remove the sticky surface, and cast more resin on top.

    • A. you didn't mix it long enough by the sounds of it. and it has to be exactly 50/50 and mixed until it is clear. It takes roughly 1-2 mins of constant stirring to get it to mix completely. And the curing time can take up to 3 days to fully cure aka harden depending on temperature and humidity levels. Hope that helps some.

Should it go on the outside underneath or can I put it inside the glass and when cured, drink out of it?
    by KB 6/8/2014
    4 answers
    • A. It depends how you are making this glass. If you are pouring into a mold, you will invert your mold and pour from the bottom of the galls making essentially the bottom the top area in that mold. You will pour the epoxy in, allow it to pool, then wait a period of time as it starts setting so it is thicker and will not allow the item to just sink all the way down. Then you will place the item into an epoxy you have prepared on the side, soaking it so every crack is filled, then with tongs or whatever, place it inside the cup and allow the resin to finish setting. You can look this technique up on Youtube, where I saw it first.

    • A. I would not recommend using it on the drinking side. Most resins of this nature do not handle large temperature changes, are porous (not easily cleaned) and can emmit fumes for years.

    • A. You could probably put it on the outside, but I would not recommend putting inside at all. It is not food-safe.
