I bought this because my daughter had a similar one, but this Ematic 4G player also has FM radio which came in clear as a bell in a metal building that houses my office. The first time I plugged it in to my computer moving files was a snap, and I can take them off and put others on as I need them. I sing for many venues and can add songs to practice and listen to in the car. The charge lasted a long time too. I would not hesitate to recommend this item to anyone. The price was great also. I really like that it has it's own speaker, or you can use the headphones. You can put a ton of songs on it too.

When I finally received it due to a glitch in the mailing system, I was delighted with it from the get-go! The FM radio works great but you have to use the earphones that it came with to pick up any stations. I can block out everything and just listen to music or ebooks. It's a keeper for me!! I also love the fact that I'm not buying batteries for it. It charges right from your computer!

can it play out of itself or do i need to use earphone
    by davidandmei 11/30/2011
    • It does have a built-in speaker but if you intend to listen to the Radio you have to use the earbuds. The speaker and one of the earbuds stopped working for me after the second day.

    • Well yes, it can theoretically play without earphones. However the volume output is very low and my built in speaker stopped working after a week. I suggest earphones or separate speakers.

    • The radio portion requires the headphones, because they act as an antenna for it, but the mp3 doesn't require them. You can just play your songs. It's not exceptionally loud, but u can set it on your desk and hear it just fine.

    • YES IT HAS A BUILT IN SPEAKER OR YOU CAN USE EARPHONES OR CONNECT TO CAR SPEAKERS LIKE ANY MP3 PLAYER.THE SPEAKER SOUND IS NOT LOUD AND THE QUALITY OF SOUND IS ONLY FAIR.TURN THE MP3 PLAYER UP SO THE SPEAKER OUTLET IS NOT AGAINST A SURFACE THIS HELPS WITH THE SPEAKER VOLUME AND SOUND.

    • It's plug and play, but your computer has to install it. It won't play anything you got from iTunes. It won't acknowledge any of the music I put on it. It doesn't hold a charge no matter how long you charge it, and the radio part is very weak. Waste of money!!!

    • Yes, it's click and drag, but if you try to load anything you got from iTunes, it won't recognize it or play it. You don't see that on the specs online or on the packaging -- you only find that out after you buy it and read the instruction booklet. It's garbage -- don't waste your $$.
