    Electrolux is the BEST!!!

I have been using Electrolux vacs for over 50 years. My last one was purchased 17 yrs. ago and is still working! I decided to buy a new vac so I could keep my old one in the basement and not keep lugging it up and down and see how the new models are. I saw a great deal on a Dyson on a shopping channel w/ lots of attachments. As I heard Dyson was so good and I never had a bagless vac before I thought I would give it a try. Well--I kept it for 3 weeks and sent it back. I won't lie it had great suction but-after I was done vacuuming I had to vacuum the vacuum! When you empty the cannister there is still dust stuck to the inside of it and I had to wipe it out with a damp paper towel, wipe the outside of it and wash my hands afterward. Needless to say I don't like "bagless".When I,m done vacuuming with the Electrolux I turn it off and put it away and I'm done!Bagless for me is too dirty! I love the oxygen, it has great suction and is so quiet and easy to use. I plan to stay with the winner!!!

I have been in the cleaning business since 1990 and have used several different brands. I have to say this vacuum is great!! Easy and very light to use. It has a large sweeper attachment that is great for wood or vinyl floors in addition there is the electric power head with beater bar for all different type carpets. For the price you can't beat it! It is also great if you have allergies! I have recommend this one to several of my customers and 3 have bought them and are very happy! I have been using this kind for 8 months and did some reach before buying it from Walmart.. they did have the best price!!

I did a great deal of research prior to buying a canister, reading both online reviews and magazine reviews as well. Further, I waited a month prior to writing a review so that I could supply accurate information after actually using it. For the most part I love the vacuum. Both the canister and the tools are well designed and perform well. It is excellent for picking up pet hair. The telescopic wand is quite long and doesn't lose any suction. The canister bags are easy to install and remove; they have ample room and replacement bags are reasonably priced. This was important for me, because I use the vacuum every day. My only complaint is that after one month, the main tube has a kink in it and when it bends, the suction stops until I straighten it out manually. This main tubing makes the vacuum difficult to store, because once a kink in the tubing develops it requires a delicate touch in order to keep the airflow working. I would recommend this to anyone as it is a very good value, the features are fantastic, it's very good looking and most importantly - it works very well. But don't buy this without the Walmart warranty!

I love everything about this vacuum. It has pretty good suction (I have a Dyson that has better suction) and I can get under the furniture (I can't with the Dyson). I've only had it a month, so I can't rate it's reliability. I'm loving that I can get under the bed's and I believe my house is cleaner that it was with my Dyson. It is also much quieter than the Dyson.

Ok, this is spendy and as other reviewers mentioned, it is not our parents Electrolux - this is plastic everything. Right out of the box today and the tube that connects canister to vacuum is crimped, however, it looks like this will expand correctly with use. It does not make me feel sure though about its long term durability. I knew canisters can be a pain b/c the little can has to follow me everywhere and most of the time it is frustrating to drag it. The retractable cord is great tho. It looks cute and the suction is intense, we needed this and bought it for two reasons: an English Yellow Labrador = fur everywhere. We needed a vacuum that was rated excellent by consumer reports and consumers for pet hair and yes, we are pleased. The second reason is we have mostly wood floors but some carpet and floor rugs, going from wood to carpet needed to be easy and this is with either the main vacuum or the wood floor attachment. Kudos again to Wal Mart for selling these almost a hundred less than anyone else, plus for 19bucks we got it delivered overnight. All in all, I did serious research and am very happy with this despite some of the frustrations.

I bought this Electrolux Oxygen about 3+ years ago. I live alone and don't need to Vacuum often. One day I was Vacuuming and the Power head brush nozzle just broke off. I was shocked. I have always taken care of this Vac and it just busted right off. Buyer beware!! The Plastic is weak and will not last.

I grew up on Rainbow vacuum systems and when the plastic pieces of an inherited 20+ yr old model started breaking, we went shopping. Being scared away from Dysons, and not having the bank for a Miele we settled on this Electrolux EL6988E. The hardwood floor attachment does a great job on our laminate flooring, and the brush is big. It has enough suction that it pulls my unattached 1/4 round trim from about 3" away (a honey-do project...). It would have been great if the hardwood attachment swiveled. The motorized head is rather bulky but, it's agile and gets deep into the carpet. I have new carpet that I would consider medium standard pile height and I have to set the head to the highest height to not feel like I'm lugging around weights. Even after cleaning with another vacuum this one could still be heard sucking up things now and then. The head itself is relatively quiet and very powerful (edging so far is great!), turning off the motorized portion for rugs means that small rugs will need your foot, otherwise it sucks them around. The head also can lock in the up position and detaches very low so I can store it in an upstairs closet by itself (like a pair of shoes) while I store the main unit with hardwood attachment downstairs. The unit follows me around with no issue and I can get most of my house using only one plug upstairs and one downstairs (house outline is roughly 20'x45'). If I had a more central outlet, I might be able to get the whole house. The main unit is relatively quiet compared to every other vacuum I'm used to (a 7 year old $70 Bissell and a 20+ year old Rainbow) as I don't really feel I have to talk up much (if at all) to talk over it. I haven't filled up a bag yet or owned it long enough to talk about longevity and the price of bags (although they can be found online for about $2/bag). The hose is fairly sturdy (moreso than many make you believe) and I've kinked it once, but I also pulled hard on it after not realizing I had coiled it from rotating the wand portion. There is no place to store the hardwood or upholstery attachments, but that's a minor inconvenience. The filters also are better than I'm used to, and one very well resembles a small car air filter (which makes me curious...) The most unpleasant thing with this vacuum is trying to figure out how to coil the hose when I'm putting the vacuum away, and that's probably a good thing :)

I had been looking at this vacuum for over a year. I wanted something lightweight, easy to carry upstairs because I'm height challenged, quiet and affordable. The vacuum has a nozzle and brush on the handle. Convenient on and off switch, and a telescoping handle for when my husband wants to vacuum, eh em. It comes with two other attachments one is a VERY wide floor brush and the other is an upholstery brush. Changing from carpet heights is easy, just push the button on the back of the carpet sweeper attachment. You can also turn the brushes off for hard surfaces without blowing dust and dirt everywhere, like my upright used to do. I love the BAGGED system. Dust cups don't cut in my house with two hairy dogs. Also comes with two additional S bags. I'll be ordering the Electrolux bags because I believe second hand bags are just that. This retails for $499 on other sites and when Walmart had a Ship to Home for free I treated myself to a Christmas gift. Makes my life so easy. When my friends come over I ask them to come see my new vacuum. Did I say I love this vacuum?

    • A. I'm 5'7" and have no issues with the height after some minor extensions. You can easily set it so you walk around like a board if you want. You may still experience some effort required when pushing/pulling the motorized head on any decent pile of carpet. That's simply a function of a lot of suction power.

We used to have 2 long hair cats, a short hair cat, and a short hair dog and it picked up everything the first time. Even the fleas that they sometimes had!! The only thing you have to worry about is the hair getting wound up in the right hand side bearing of the brush roll. that was the only problem we had with it.

The Oxygen canister requires the Electrolux style S bag and style S HEPA filter to operate, both of which are available in the Arm & Hammer brand on Walmart.com.
