Steam your entire meal at once with this double-tray bamboo steamer

About this item

The Ekco PAO! 10" Bamboo Steamer helps you steam-cook an entire meal in one go. Bamboo makes a responsible and ecologically viable alternative for wood. This bamboo steamer retains moisture and locks in both the flavor and the nutrients while cooking. Crafted with a wide mouth diameter, the bamboo food steamer quickly absorbs moisture and prevents water from dripping onto the food due to condensation. Its two-tier construction is convenient to steam multiple items simultaneously. You can combine this bamboo three-piece steamer set with woks, pots and pans as well. Further, the set comes in handy to cook traditional East Asian recipes including Chinese, Thai and more.

Ekco PAO! 10" Bamboo Steamer:

  • Two tiers of bamboo steaming trays
  • One woven bamboo lid
  • Absorbs excess moisture and prevents condensation from dripping on food while lid traps steam
  • May be used with woks, pans and pots
  • 10" diameter
  • Includes instructions and cooking tips
  • Hand wash only
  • Made from Bamboo which is a fast growing and highly renewable material.

    More than 5 stars!

I've had these bamboo steamers before and they were ok, but I ordered this one to replace the old one and was expecting the thin reeded bottom (where the veges stay) and was surprised to find bamboo sticks in their place! The rest of the steamer was also redesigned to be much more sturdy than prior models of the same and the price was the same. This is a much more sturdy, well designed steamer than the old ones for the same money and that's ok in my book!

    Great For Sticky Rice

You CAN cook sticky rice in a bamboo steamer if you follow these steps: wash rice till water runs clear, soak rice for at least 2 hours (or overnight), wrap rice in cheese cloth and place in steamer basket, steam for 25 minutes. Immediately remove rice from cheese cloth and stir to remove excess steam, serve. Leftovers can be used for fried rice.

I bought this for my daughter. I have one just like it and love it! Vegetables get done in less time than my electric steamer and have alot more flavor. When doing won ton recipes, make sure to spray both steamer and won tons with oil to avoid sticking. I learned the hard way :).

It doesn't plug in from the looks of it...how do you use it?

    • You can just put them on top of a pot that's wider than the steamer. don't forget to fill the pot with water

    • No plugs required. The diameter on this product is 10.25 inches so get a pan that's 11 or 12 inches and fill with about 1.5 inches of water and start steaming away.

    • you can rest it in a wok, or put it atop a large 10 inch pan of water. Do not let the steamer touch the water. The bottom of the steamer should rest on the pan, not in it. It sometimes is difficult to remove if it goes inside. Put fresh/frozen vegetables in the basket. Let the water boil for awhile and this "steams" the vegetables or item in the "basket". When we use meat, it is good to put parchment paper underneath, so it doesn't stick to the basket. We have used it so much, guests at the house are buying one.

    • You use this over a pot with about and inch or 2 boiling water. Layer the veges or dumplings in the steamer and let it steam until done. Simple!

    • It is big (in diameter. That is why I gave it less than a five star rating). I put it on a large frying pan that has been filled with water. I line the top with foil because I don't want it to drip its contents onto the item below. Then I boil the water in the pan using the steam that rises through to the steamer(s) above to cook (steam) the items until ready to eat (by my reckoning).

    • You place the steamer basket over a pot of boiling water. Make sure the basket sits on top of the pot.
