These shelves are solid metal. They&#39;re very light, so it gives you the illusion that they won&#39;t successfully hold your products. But, never you worry, they hold up beautifully. When it comes to air flow, that will only happen on the sides; the bottoms of your products will sit on solid metal.

The shelves are solid but very thin. They are totally adjustable as you can use as many as you want wherever you want to attach them.

Please do not buy this product!!! I am throwing mine out--does not matter how many shelves, the quality is horrible.

If you count the top and bottom it has 7 shelves. 5 of them you cen attach wherever works for your needs.

The shelves are solid metal, not the wire type with airflow. But do not waste your money on this product! It is highly inferior and almost impossible to assemble. The holes do not line up properly. The support posts are not bent at the proper angle to meet the shelves. The shelves do not support the weight suggested. After 6 hours, some heavy duty vice grips, a power drill and screwdriver...as well as a professional leveler....a friend assembled one of these for me. I had bought two. I took the second one back to the store. Not worth the time!

Solid Metal.. ( thin sheeting, lightweight but sturdy)

They are  very  thin and flimsy.  The  bolt holes do not line up and it is very hard to assemble!

Yes you can but it comes with only seven so you would have to contact the manufacturer to get more.

If you mean make it taller, I wouldn't. It is a pretty flimsy unit, and a royal pain to assemble. I bought 2, and after assembling the first one, decided to make the second one into 2 shorter units. The uprights come in 2 pieces each, so making the shorter units worked well.
Unless the floor it will be resting on while in use is perfectly level, I would recommend strapping it to the wall to prevent it tipping over.

You could add shelves, though it would only enable you to store pints on some of the shelves.

Technically, it&#39;s physically possible to add shelves because of the versatility of the hole placement in the upright bars, but from an engineering standpoint they might not be able to guarantee the unit&#39;s stability if you did that.

I imagine you could, if you can order them or buy them to fit with appropriate bolts and nuts

there are holes that would accept more screws and nuts...but watch the weight max....

See not reason why you can add shelves if you have them

I see no reason you cannot. Just take into consideration of the total weight of shelving unit. Make sure you use the same screws and nuts. I have in the past scavenged shelves from other units to add more shelves. That was 40 years ago and they are still there doin&#39; what they were designed to do.

From the picture, there are 5 shelves with a top and bottom of structure that could also be used as a shelf totalling 7 surfaces.

I have no earthly idea why it says five shelves when it actually has seven shelves. Maybe someone in marketing had a decaf when they needed an espresso.

be advised, for strength each shelf has 8 screws and nuts plus an additional 18 screws and nuts for the braces.
When finished you will have an inexpensive and strong shelf system.
