You still need a internet provider and a router to make this work. EW-7811Un is a adapter to receive wireless signal. If you do not have wireless network in your home, you cannot have any internet through this adapter.

No! Service provider and wireless router a must.

It connects to wi-fi access points. You need to have a router with an Internet connection.

You must have a service provider for internet access. This works with wireless routers, ok.

sorry to say you still have to pay for your internet. if you have a wireless router then this will almost certainly work for you. its main uses are for people whose wireless function stopped working inside their computer or for those people whose computer never had the wireless feature. hope this helps.

I bought this because my current laptop was having issues syncing with my current modem (it would randomly disconnect). I disabled the internal wireless adapter and then activated this - now my computer does not randomly disconnect from the internet AND my internet speed is sooooooooooo much faster than before! I was hesitant to purchase this as I thought it might be cheaper quality (due to the lower cost) but I've been using it now for about a month and it works great. Love the compact size too!

Quality Product

I am old school and have used wireless game adapters in the past to get around the issue.  It is amazing to me that this has been condensed down into a usb device at all much less one this small.  Granted most of what is going on is in the software now not the hardware still it is quite the achievement.  This works fine for me , as if it were plugged into the router.  This is far cheaper here than other sites (amazon) at $10 and using raspberry technology simply amazing to me.
