Rated 5 out of 5 by Swimomatic Great blackout curtain -- and more!
I work at night and sleep during the day, so I bought a pair of these Eclipse Samara curtains to block the light that creeps in around my bedroom door. These curtains have AMAZING blackout capability! They also muffle sounds coming from outside the room, and they look as nice as any curtain I could have bought at any price. (I did not have any problem getting the creases out. Manufacturer's dryer instructions are included in package.) Terrific value at such a low price.
Rated 5 out of 5 by cathybrg Purchased these cutains for my mom's house which has zero insulation & blinds on her windows. Her rooms would remain terribly hot despite the window A/C unit set on coldest/high setting. The curtains did make a vast improvement making her rooms cooler & far more comfortable. Keep in mind these are blackout curtains, so they make the rooms much darker in the daytime. But, that works for us. Definitely would recommend these since they were very reasonably priced and accomplished what we had hoped they would do. Great buy!
Rated 5 out of 5 by FrugalAnn Pleasantly surprised!
Decided to change color scheme in the bedroom so I needed new blackout curtains, purchased these because they seemed to be the best value. I ordered them in stone blue, and the curtains are actually darker than they appear online. Almost like a dark denim blue color. But I like it!! The weave of these give a really great texture and a very subtle pattern.
My window is about 70" inches wide. I bought 3 panels and it filled the space fine for my taste. For windows this size, I'm guessing most people may want 4 (or more) panels for a pleated look.
These block out WAY more than my existing curtains. I've included a couple not-so-great pictures.
Rated 5 out of 5 by nfrlear Great curtains
The curtains were everything they were adverticed to be, and more. Nice material, they seem to be keeping my house warmer on cold days, blocking out the sun on warm days, and keeping it cooler. I would buy the same kind again.
Rated 5 out of 5 by ruthietravels Excellent in Every Way!
These eclipse curtains are not only great looking, with a semi shiny patina that affords them a sense of subtle elegance, but they are entirely efficient in keeping your home's temperature moderately regulated. I put these in my South Florida apartment, which has 2 windows and a 12 foot sliding door that face west...which means it exposes my place to the hottest, most intense sun heat of the afternoon. Prior to installing these, I could feel heat radiating 2 feet into my apartment from the windows and door. The carpet was hot to the touch. After installing these curtains, however, my apartment has been significantly cooler in temperature and the sun-blocking capabilities give my place a hotel room type of feel. I opted for the chocolate brown color to contrast my light beige walls and they look real classy. All my visitors have noted their elegance and the price for these is right. I bought similar curtains about 2 years ago for a seasonal place in Southern California and I paid $40 a panel for those- same brand. These are remarkably priced for the value, cheaper here on Walmart than Amazon. You'll love them!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Di719 Very Good curtains ~ Hints that may help others
After reading the reviews I was very afraid to buy these. We live in FL. & have a sun room that required 11 pannels! Cost was definately an issue. Here are the things I did after reading the reviews & then purchasing, I must say in the end VERY HAPPY! I waited over a month of use to review :) #1 Don't purchase online go to the store, check color & backing on each, I went with the blue denim color. #2 I hung 2 to test for a day and that awful choking chemical smell did STRONGLY appear that others talked about. Honestly it was overwhelming & even burned my throat. Don't try to cover the smell, try to extract the chemicals. I washed them all, on delicate, 2 panels at a time in baking soda 1/2 box per load & lemon juice 1/2 cup or so, NO detergent, just these 2 things to EXTRACT. I hung them wet & VIOLA no more burning smell or wrinkles. Got the 9 more I needed. By the way we manage a 600 unit self storage facility on a main road. The noise was vastly diminished after hanging these! We now have what was a smolderingly HOT noisy useless room now set up with comp. t.v. & all thanks to these!
You can't beat the price on these, I think if you follow the steps I did, starting with doing your own quality control by shopping in store from them, you will be very happy :) I really hope this helps others.

Purchased 2 of these panels yesterday and laundered according to instructions. The backing came off in the wash, covering the curtain with a powder-like film. Several nickel sized spots of backing are gone entirely and show through. These are going back!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Niceyboo Nice product
Wish it came as a set not just one panel.
Rated 5 out of 5 by 2DogGram Very pleased with these curtains. Price is right. They totally black out the room and look good.
Rated 1 out of 5 by SmartNSavvy Looks nice, smells bad
I really liked the collor, weight, and texture of these curtains. They block out enough light that you can comfortably watch a TV facing the window at sunset. Can't beat the price. However, as soon as the white backing of your curtains heats up (my living room gets hit by full sun in the afternoon), your room will start smelling like a bunch of rodents took up residence (or died recently). Bad smell did not go away even after washing the curtains. Had to get rid of them.
Rated 1 out of 5 by noxie52 You get what you paid!
I bought 12 of these and they do not iron well or wash well. I washed 4 panels in a cold delicate cycle per directions, let it air dry and the plastic paneling is now peeling away. I should have spent the money and bought drapes that are going to hold up with an occasional wash. A cheap good is what I got!

Rated 3 out of 5 by WallyWorld78 blackout varies
Yes they blackout but...
I bought 3 panels. One panel is clearly darker than the others although they are all the same color purchased: latte.
Very disappointing. I don't want to have to keep buying & getting them home to see which matches then return the others.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Chemcw Finally!
These curtains are amazing. Bought a couple other more expensive brands and had to return do to cheap feel and color differences. NO complaints here, and I am very picky. It's 2pm as we speak and no light is in my bedroom. So peaceful and cool. The shiny texture gives the curtains a more classy look as well. (Just make sure you purchase the correct sizes. Grabbed a shorter one by mistake. Hope this review helped.
Rated 1 out of 5 by LysLys DO NOT BUY!
I wash all my curtains before I hang them (if they can be washed). So, I did the same with these as per the instructions.
The white backing COMPLETELY came off.
I'm in the process of drying the curtains now and I will return in-store tomorrow (I ordered online).
This is completely unacceptable. Why do they tell you that you CAN wash these when it's obvious you cannot?!?
Granted they were $9.77 a piece (I bought two) when I bought these, that's no excuse!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Maverick49 Well Pleased!
I am VERY well pleased with this product. I had no problem getting the wrinkles out (by following the instructions provided) and they hang beautifully. I had my doubts as to whether they would really block as much light as advertised, so I was very happy to find out that yes, they DO! These were hung in a bedroom (2 windows) that gets full sun from about 1 pm 'til sunset and gets quite warm in this summer heat. I immediately felt the difference in the temperature in this bedroom, it is now as comfortable as the rest of the house. There are no "holes" with no backing as some reviews indicate. I am very well pleased with this purchase. Only one problem, and that is my fault. I should have ordered a heavier-duty rod but that will be remedied when I go shopping this weekend. :)
Rated 3 out of 5 by grandma68 helful product
Got these for grandson's room. He really likes because he wanted his room darkened and this does the trick. Also he said they do help with noise reduction.
Rated 5 out of 5 by lovetobake2 Great Value!
I would recommend this product, great value and they do what they are suppose to do, darken the room. They look very nice!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Myshellemarie Excellent
We bought the latte shade. It looked a lot lighter on the computer than when it arrived. We made it work but expect acmefium brownish color! Excellent curtains. It REALLY works in reducing light and heat. We have a pool that reflects water to this peticular room
Rated 3 out of 5 by blu04stang Not What I Expected
The term "you get what you pay for" is all I can think of to describe these. For the price I didn't really expect them to black out the room but I expected a little bit more darkening. I ordered the Khaki and hung 2 of them. They did seem to block some of the heat but they didn't darken the room any more than the ones I had that were just regular curtains. They are going back.
On the pro side, they are pretty and I've had them hanging for about 8 hours and some of the wrinkles are gone so I would assume over time they would all disappear.(I hung them right out of the package)
Rated 5 out of 5 by LoveMyFamily16 Perfect Blackout curtains
They block out 90% of the light. Only the light at the top is seen, which is impossible to get. We love the look and color as well. The price was awesome, too.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Abbster dont buy this online
i bought 2 panels online because they were sold out in stores. i wish i would have waited they BOTH came with holes going down them i was VERY DISAPOINTED!!!
but i returnd them at store and waited for them come in stock, they didnt have holes so i recomend DO NOT BUY THEM ONLINE
Rated 2 out of 5 by SweetMamaKaty Not Good For A Baby's Room, Make Your Own! :)
I purchased two of these panels (to furnish window treatments for the buyer of my home, as I am keeping the blackout curtains I made for my baby's room). I can't speak to the other features they claim, but they definitely do not block out 99% of light. I was going to switch the curtains out today (as we will be moving in a few days, trying to save time for last minute things) - but I had to put my home-made curtains back up. The Eclipse Samara just don't make the room anywhere near dark enough, especially for daytime naps and our late sunset.
Obviously not everyone is crafty, but if you have the ability and time, you would be better off to purchase true black-out fabric from your craft store and make your own! :)
As a side note to the appearance and texture - they do have a little sheen, but the overall color was nice enough. I didn't wait to see if the wrinkles would come out, but there were directions in the package for removing the wrinkles, which would have been helpful. They do have a bit of that 'plastic-y' feel of the lined curtains from the 80's, but they aren't as thick and heavy as those used to be - which come to think of it, is probably why they don't block all the light.
Hope this is helpful for you as you weigh the pros and cons - and what's important to you! :)
Rated 1 out of 5 by notleavingname They outgas and smell! even after washing!
We bought room darkening and they werent dark enough. We exchanged for these 'blackout' which do not black out the outside lights. They were a great value, and look nice. Shortly after putting them up we noticed the room smelled like a locker room. After looking for any thing under the bed and changing all linens we took them down to wash too. It was them! They were outgassing from the liner. I washed them in Tide and Downy and did NOT put them in the dryer but they still smell! They are being returned tomorrow!
Rated 5 out of 5 by flowers4 Great product ! great price!
Very happy with these curtains! When open they let the sun in and when closed they are nice and dark! Just what I needed!
Rated 1 out of 5 by pdxchargerfan Didn't even come close to blocking out light
I was so excited initially to get these curtains. We work odd hours & often sleep during the day. Much to my disappointment when they arrived the color was completely different than what it showed online. In addition, when I hung them up they didn't even come close to blocking out the light! I may as well have hung up a white sheet over our window! A LOT of light shown through & I had to return them. I ordered the beige colored ones, perhaps if I ordered a darker color it may have been better. They are also cut on the small side, barely covering our windows. Very disappointed these did not work. Don't waste your time or money on these.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mo1962 Good but look closely at backs
Overall this was a good deal. The foam was thinner then I expected. Wrinkles came out easily when using the proper iron setting. Nice sheen to the material that catches the lights ever so slightly. I got two colors, chocolate and latte. The Latte color does not block out light as advertised. Also, a word of caution, be very careful of the back material. Some are white, some are off-white. I had to rehang most to try to match up the back colors.
Rated 5 out of 5 by KodiakKing These curtains work great! Look good too. I ordered these because i live in Alaska and during the summer months we get around 20 hrs. of daylight. These curtains do excellent blocking out sunlight. I would, and have ,recommended these to others in our community. Great quality at a great price.
Rated 1 out of 5 by slim2002 We purchased 5 of these curtains to block out the sunlight and heat to help with energy costs. Since they have been up, we have not noticed any difference in temperature inside. Thermostat is still reading a high temperature. Waste of money buying them and waste of time installing them.
Rated 4 out of 5 by mygoofy Great value for such a low price
I actually bought these for my kitchen nook. With 8 full length windows I needed something to help with the light as well as heat/cold. They are great for this so far. Just a little stiffer than expected. I do recommend if you are buying these make sure the brackets for your curtain rods aren't too long, as mine were. This causes the curtains to fall too far out from the wall letting alot of light through. I am buying smaller/shorter brackets so that these curtains will fall against the wall shutting out the light.
