Purchased these cutains for my mom's house which has zero insulation & blinds on her windows. Her rooms would remain terribly hot despite the window A/C unit set on coldest/high setting. The curtains did make a vast improvement making her rooms cooler & far more comfortable. Keep in mind these are blackout curtains, so they make the rooms much darker in the daytime. But, that works for us. Definitely would recommend these since they were very reasonably priced and accomplished what we had hoped they would do. Great buy!

Decided to change color scheme in the bedroom so I needed new blackout curtains, purchased these because they seemed to be the best value. I ordered them in stone blue, and the curtains are actually darker than they appear online. Almost like a dark denim blue color. But I like it!! The weave of these give a really great texture and a very subtle pattern. My window is about 70" inches wide. I bought 3 panels and it filled the space fine for my taste. For windows this size, I'm guessing most people may want 4 (or more) panels for a pleated look. These block out WAY more than my existing curtains. I've included a couple not-so-great pictures.

These eclipse curtains are not only great looking, with a semi shiny patina that affords them a sense of subtle elegance, but they are entirely efficient in keeping your home's temperature moderately regulated. I put these in my South Florida apartment, which has 2 windows and a 12 foot sliding door that face west...which means it exposes my place to the hottest, most intense sun heat of the afternoon. Prior to installing these, I could feel heat radiating 2 feet into my apartment from the windows and door. The carpet was hot to the touch. After installing these curtains, however, my apartment has been significantly cooler in temperature and the sun-blocking capabilities give my place a hotel room type of feel. I opted for the chocolate brown color to contrast my light beige walls and they look real classy. All my visitors have noted their elegance and the price for these is right. I bought similar curtains about 2 years ago for a seasonal place in Southern California and I paid $40 a panel for those- same brand. These are remarkably priced for the value, cheaper here on Walmart than Amazon. You'll love them!

    • Each package contained one panel, however, Walmart did have a special offer to buy 2 curtains at the same time at a discounted price. I entered the brand of the curtain into the search engine, and that is when they had additional sizes, and quantity's that you could order to obtain a better price.

    • No, but one is 9.00 and change. I purchased four more panels along with the two, and received a bulk purchase deal. Basically $7.00 and a few penny's, plus free shipping. Total 54.00 for three windows. I've searched everywhere for them, none are as fine as the eclipse. They do what they say, and this was the lowest price I could find on the internet. They're more than a standard drapery, all the way around. Wish they came as a set too:)

I am frequently getting sick in the Summer, so I am sleeping alot. My bedroom has windows on the East, West, and South sides, so there is constantly bright light coming into my room. As you can imagine, this makes it quite difficult to sleep during the daytime. Right now, I have fleece blankets over all three of my windows and so far, all of the "blackout" curtains I have bought do very little to block out the light. Do these curtains block out most of the light? Thanks in advance!!
    by an anonymous customer 6/13/2011
    • YES! They do a wonderful job blocking light.

    • I know the feeling, I had to put towels over my curtains, so my truck driver could sleep! Yes, these are effective at cutting out about 90-95% of the bright light.

    • Ohhh, yeah. They aren't actually 99% total blackout, but they are probably as close as a human can get with one panel (shy of those huge tapestries they have in castles). Not only do they cut about 92% of the day light, they also keep a huge portion of the heat of the day with their Thermaback panels. If you need TOTAL blackout, you'll probably have to go with those pull down retractable window blinds under these. I dare you to try to find your way to bed, then!!

    • Eclipse Samara panels do not block out 100 % of light but they do block a lot. Mine are in a South west facing room. My husband says the room now looks like a "cave"

    • I have plantation blinds and these curtains. Very little light comes in the room. It is enough for me to see how to walk, but I could easily use a night light in broad daylight to keep from tripping. To totally block out the light you might also try the liners behind the blackout curtains.
