Anything BUT blackout

I purchased 84" panels in the mushroom color. The fabric is very attractive and made to look like raw silk with textured graining and a slight sheen, except that it has none of the drawbacks of raw silk, namely high price, heavy weight, or special pressing requirements. The panels are easy to iron and hang. No heavy duty mounting hardware required. However, the tab back mounting design doesn't produce the crisp, clean look I was going for. The panels are so lightweight that they tend to flare out at the bottom, whereas heavier fabrics tend to hang straight down. But the real deal breaker for me is, for a product with "blackout" in its name that claims to block 99% of light, one would expect something remotely close to that. Unfortunately, these curtains are anything BUT blackout. Sunlight POURS through the fabric, almost as if they have no lining at all. The lining has no blackout quality whatsoever. There is no "foam-back" construction as advertised. In fact, the lining is no different than what you'd find in any other inexpensive curtain - thin and cheap. So, if blackout is really part of your search criteria, you might do best to move on. Very disappointed that Walmart is still marketing these as "blackout".

Did I receive a defective curtain panel??

I love the color of these curtains, the match my comforter exactly. I bought them because they are supposed to be blackout and energy efficient curtains. The look is great but I had bought them for the thermal blackout so that score is a "0" so far. I had bought the $10 Samara for my kids rooms, they had a foam backing and work perfect even though they are stiff from the backing. The Samara ones did not have the color I was looking for. The Alexis are not stiff supposed to be the best Thermal Blackout out of the series. Supposed to be a Thermalayer brand. I put them up they are very nice looking and are not stiff like normal foam backed curtains. But there is supposed to be a thermal layer material between the curtain and the liner to block out everything, light, noise, heat, cold. I think I received a defective one there is no middle layer, put them up and can see light through it and it is a cloudy day. So will see in the am if it does like it is supposed to. I am hoping that layer is there, but it really looks like there are only the curtain and back liner. Paying this much for a lined curtain, without the thermal layer, is way priced to high. we will see, I have a feeling I will be taking this back. :(

The curtain is beautiful! the color and texture is what sold me. The Price isn't too bad either, but could be a little cheaper. PLEASE NOTE: these curtains are NOT BLACKOUT! That is the only thing keeping them from getting 5 stars. They do have a lining on the back, but they let a lot of light through them. I put them in a spare bedroom so its not a BIG deal to me. But if I was actually shopping for BLACKOUT curtains these WOULD be returned!

I purchased these in silver for the master bedroom. I can see light shine right through even on a cloudy rainy day. They are absolutely not black out curtains as advertised. I also bought the eclipse aurora for comparison and those block out the light way better. Aurora is priced cheaper than this one, but actually works.

Ok these are great ! Others wanted $26 on average and I needed 4 panels so at the price of $16 per panel I gave them a try. Look great, well made and they are washable. They are a bit wrinkled because of the folds from the packaging but hang them and let them settle for a month they get relaxed. I got the Silver color for the dining area and they look elegant ! I got compliments on them too. Very Happy.

I ordered the curtains in a 95 inch because I have a top floor loft style apartment with high 16+ ft ceilings. The length is definitely true to size. The orange is actually more of a Texas burnt orange than the photo shows. It says they are "blackout". The panels have a white backing on them. With the sun shining, I can see through to my wood panel blinds. Though they don't say they are specifically for keeping heat in, I would assume they would a bit because they are supposed to be made with heavier materials. They do not at all. I am pleased with the look but not the functionality. Curtains are really hard to shop for. I gave up and just kept them.

It does reduce the light, but not 99 percent. Maybe 60% If you are looking for a blackout curtain, this one is not it.

The curtains look beautiful and are easy to install but they don't seem to block out any more light than regular curtains. Will definitely be returning and finding proper black out curtains.

I am really pleased with these overall. Nice rich deep indigo. Nice sheen on fabric and thickness. I am surprised they really look and feel good for price. I don't know if the 'blackout' factor is not up to par as some people mention. I didn't buy based on that, but they definitely darken the room a lot.

Yes, I am very happy with my blackout curtains. I have been sleeping better than I have in years because the street light no longer shines in my window at night when I turn over. The room is dark even during the day. I have to turn on a light to see what I need to get. I am enjoying my curtains, The price was excellent.

They are not blackout curtains as advertised. They block heat/cold fine, but they still let in a fair amount of light. Even with shades down underneath them it is dim, not dark in my living room when it is bright outside. You clearly see the outline of the window as a fairly bright white square through the curtain. This isn't a huge problem unless you really need/want it dark. I got these so I could watch projected movies during the day. They do not quite make the room dark enough for that. The appearance of them is actually a little nice than I expected. They don't have the cheap look I thought they might for something so inexpensive.

Thin. Not Black Out

I purchased these to cover a West facing Florida window. These have a very very thin material. I purchased the dark brown color. Even with that puny white panel on the back side of the dark brown curtains, Light goes right through it. The curtains look nice when no light shining through them but when the sun comes up.....the thinness of the material is quite obvious by all the tiny pin pricks of sunlight that make it through. I googled everywhere to find TRUE BLACK OUT curtains...the kind photographers, sleep study labs etc use.......steelguardsafety make a true black out curtain. They will make them with gormets or folded over top to slide a curtain rod through...whatever you want. You only have to buy them once and the color is black...but if you want a cool dark room...these are the way to go.

I bought the Eclipse Alexis BLACKOUT curtain panels in the silver color. They are lined and also have a dark gray backing to the silver fabric, but they are definitely not "blackout" since quite a bit of light comes through. I chose to keep them anyway because they look nice. I'll be putting up a blackout shade behind them. So that is extra expense, making these drapes not a great value.
