Clean clothes!

I have always used brand-name laundry detergent. I got to try Ecos Laundry Detergent. I was skeptical because it was a 'green' product (will it really clean my clothes?). I felt compelled to pour more than the "measured amount" to make sure they were clean. My clothes were totally clean. Its a great product! I like the unscented one the best. Would I use it again? Yes. Would I buy it again? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes!

It cleans really well and is the only off the shelf detergent I've ever tried that didn't cause hives. All the free and clear ones failed miserably, both on me and my family. If you have sensitive skin, you should even be able to tolerate the lavender of this brand, which is what we use if we can't find the unscented. Its gentle and smells wonderful!

I have tried all the green laundry detergents out there, seventh generation, Biokleen, store so called green brands and many more free and clear brands. This one by far surpasses all the others. It not only is green and simple in ingredients but it only contains plant derived materials like coconut oil, but it works fantastically, on all stains-old and new. I have three children, one is an extremely messy girl and I have a two month old baby so I know what stains are. This gets it all out, if you use their oxo clean for a booster and borax, you will have fresh smelling and super clean laundry. Also we have exzema and sensitive skin in our family and this is wonderful. The five stars are for the fact that for a green product it is super cheap! We can afford this on a budget cause a little goes a long way and we do not have HE machines in our apartment. I have shopped around and this stuff is great, it is also the cheapest at WalMart, most places it will run you around 12 bucks for a smaller jug. You will love this stuff, I promise!!

I would like to use this product as it seems to be very good for cloth diapers, however I have a regular washing machine. Can I still use this product?
by an anonymous customer
  • I think you can. HE washers need low suds so need it to clean w out a lot of suds but I think they should work ok in a regular one. Not sure how that will work. I do remember that my washer that stayed w place I sold had much lower water use. So this is made to do the job w much less water per load size than a top load washer. If you can find it in the store & look at the label, it may say. I can't remember & I have not yet purchased it here. Hoping to this afternoon.

  • Yes you can, my washing machine is about 17 years old...it is very good liquid detergent. I only wish Wal Mart stores carried the larger container. I highly recommend this product.

  • Yes, I have an older top loader and it works just fine. The instruction says you have to use double of what you would with a HE machine but so far I only fill it up to the first line and it cleans just fine.

  • I use this detergent in my standard top loading machine. The cap has two measurements, 1 for HE loads and another for standard loads. It's working for us. Hope that helps! I recently bought it at my local Walmart, but first ordered it online. I tried this detergent because it was cloth diaper safe.

Or will I have to stip them all the time?
by mamabearof5
  • I haven't done laundry for babes in many years, but I wish we'd had Earth Friendly Products when my children were babies. I have seen no evidence that ECOS builds up on my cotton clothing, bedding, etc. I only use cotton sheets, bedding and undergarments. My washing machine stays clean and fresh smelling. I hope this helps.

  • You could have a problem with stains in diapers. There is nothing in ECOS that will bleach

  • I no longer have a young child but have read many reviews that say this is great on cloth diapers. Try to google it as there are more reviews there. Also look at their website. Excellent product. I have used this for many years and I am allergic to many detergents and bubble baths.
