Rated 4 out of 5 by MommyRN78 I love this vacuum for our floors upstairs. We have laminate/carpet/rugs up there and it works wonderful! Using this in our basement is a challenge, though. We have plush, soft, high pile carpet down there and it is soooo hard to push. It gives my husband a run for his money! Overall we like it. 09/10/2012

The first one I had was working as good as it did the first day I bought it 6 years ago, but I gave it to a friend who has finally moved out and living on his own. Rated 2 out of 5 Great for carpet, not great for bare floors This is the first review of a product that I've ever written/posted. I purchased the DC33 with scorecard points earned through a credit card, so I wasn't out any money, just points on 3/16/2012. We have carpet in 2 bedrooms, hardwood and tile in the rest of the house. We got the DC33 because of the multi-floor capability. We started by using our old vacuum (a Royal# on the carpet, then we went over the same carpet using the new DC33. We were very impressed---lots of dog hair, carpet fuzzies, and dirt were pulled out with the Dyson. We are very happy with the Dyson on the carpet, the ONLY complaint is that the machine does not get close to the baseboards or furniture. There is at least a 1 inch gap, maybe larger around the perimeter of objects on the floor. Because we have so much hard flooring, we bought the hard floor attachment #Walmart.com)so we wouldn't have to push and pull the entire vacuum. The hose on this vacuum is a NIGHTMARE. It is so stiff, even after 3+weeks of daily use. The vacuum bangs into our feet/legs--dumps over entirely---a lightweight vacuum is great for some applications, but when using the upholstery and floor attachments-------FRUSTRATING! I can't use the DC33 for furniture. Only way I can tolerate it on the bare floors we bought it for is to push and pull the entire machine. 04/09/2012

I was extremely hesitant in spending so much money on this vacuum, after finding it cheaper on the walmart website than in the store, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase it. BEST PURCHASE for a vacuum ever and I would do it all over again, and probably spend more! When I brought it home, nobody was around to help me put it together so I was worried I might not be able to use it right away, WRONG, it was extremely easy to put together and no tools were needed, at all.This vacuum is so lightweight and easy to push around over thick or thin carpet, and switches to hard floor mode at the flip of a switch, literally. My living room rug LOOKED clean, but after 5 minutes with the Dyson I was disgusted and embarassed with the amount of dust and pet hair it picked up that had been hiding in my carpet.The wand easily detaches so it makes vacuuming furniture and higher places a breeze, it has an extra long cord so there is no unplugging it as you go room to room. Emptying the canister is a one hand cinch and doesn't create a mess, as my other bagless vacuum did.This is one purchase I don't regret, not for a minute! 03/05/2012
