I desperately needed a new vacuum...old one was 20 yrs. old....i read all reviews on Consumers Reports...Dyson Animal was rated #2 (the billion dollar Kirby was rated #1) and I am THRILLED with the performance of the Dyson! I have 3 teen-pre-teen children who all have asthma and dust allergies...I have a 5 yr old yellow lab whose fur sheds so much i could coat another lab! The Dyson lived up to its hype and picks up every speck of dust and pet hair! It almost moves on its own! It is very easy to put together and very lightweight also...I highly recommend it! 03/31/2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Expensive, but an excellent vacuum... This is my second Dyson vacuum. They are fairly expensive, fairly heavy, and fairly prone to component breakage... But, that being said, they are still, in my opinion, the best vacuums on the market! I've tried many other vacuums both before and after my first Dyson, but none have compared to its ability to clean and its ease of emptying the dirt bin! I wish the components (the hose, belts, etc) would hold up better in the long run. I also wish that the Dysons had a headlight on them. Other than that, I've been impressed enough with them to dig deep into my pockets to purchase a second one... That about says it all! 03/13/2011

All other vacuums for them would break down within the first two years. A great product for people who like seriously clean carpets! 03/11/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love my dyson I love my Dyson dc28 this is is the vacuum I have ever had. The suction is amazing!!! Every time I sweep I am amazed at how clean my carpets look I have used a lot of sweepers and they all lose suction as soon as filter gets dirty or the bands on the bottom braks and has to be replaced with my Dyson none of this to worry about. 03/09/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Dyson!!!!!!! We just bought this Dyson and we are amazed how much hair and dirt is being picked up! We have 2 dogs with very different coats. One is a long haired Australian Shepherd and the other a short haired mix. We would highly recommend this product! It is a little costly for a vacuum but well worth the money!!!!! 08/05/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the best things I own I am in love with this vacuum! I have a Shar Pei who sheds terribly and I was at a loss for what to do before I got this vacuum. It cleans carpets so that they look like new and also does great on hard surfaces. The different attachments are so easy to switch out and the canister is simple to empty so that you are never touching anything nasty. The stretchy tube stretches easily from the bottom of my stairs to the top so that I can leave the heavy vacuum at the bottom and clean every step. You can tell Dyson really thought of everything when making this and I would suggest it to everyone! 08/02/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love My Dyson Animal We would go thru a new vaccum atleast every 5-8 mths or so until we baught our first Dyson animal when Costco and Lowes started selling them I had to have one. So my hubby took me out and suprised e whenwe got ours. We have had are Animal for about 11 yrs now and have never had a problem with it ! Everyone that has barrowed it has went out and bought one for themselves !!!! I will not own another vaccum unless its a Dyson.. We recomend them to everyone. 07/24/2012
Rated 4 out of 5 disappointed we had a great Dyson upright for 4.5 years and it needed replacing we bought the DC28 animal last week and I anticipated the same great machine as before this one has fantastic pickup (we have animals that shed all year long) but trying to maneuver the machine through the house is a hard! job, it is SO heavy we have a large home with hardwood floors and persian rugs I vacuum every day because of the animals the hardwood floors are a breeze to vacuum, but the rugs next to impossible using the high pile or medium pile settinfgs make absolutely no difference the machine only runs smoothly if and when I vacuum with the direction of the pile, but can not move the thing in any other direction , which means that part of the rugs do not get vacuumed unless I want the fringes sucked into the machine and have to turn it off I am so disappointed vacuuming used to be so easy, now it is hard work and I miss my old Dyson every day also, the handle and hose seem to be mounted "backwards" in comparison to the old model; it is much harder to pull out the hose and use it without the whole vacuum cleaner rolling around with me as I move 07/17/2012

I wanted to use it for awhile and try all the tools that came with it before I wrote a review.First of all the demonstrations they show on tv DO NOT do this vacuum justice. They show it with pet hair just sitting on top of carpet, I have 3 dogs and dark carpets 2 of my dogs have blonde color hair so you do math........now lets add people walking back and fourth on carpets smashing it into the fibers of carpets, I wish the demonstration they would show on ty is the one I deal with(people would really believe the hype) this is one purchase in my lifetime that I can say is far and beyond worth the price. I have a love hate relationship with my Dyson. I can never just do a quick vacuum, I end up vacuuming everywhere I can vacuum and using almost every tool I have everytime I do. All I guess I am trying to say expensive yes, worth it if you own pets YES!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have pets you need to invest in this vacuum! P.S. the small brush attachment is a must have for pet hair on furniture, I have tryed different vacuums, duck tape, you name it I have tryed it to get hair off my furniture then I used this brush when I got my Dyson and It is a must have. Purchase this vacuum if you have a pet hair problem you will not be disappointed. 07/15/2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed in DC28 and Dyson This is our second Dyson. First one is still going, but we moved it downstairs after eight years of service. We recently purchased the DC28. I, like other customers, have a very difficult time pushing this vacuum on carpeting, the brush stops rotating, and the red light flashes. I've cleaned the brush - there are no obstructions. Very frustrating. I will be using the old vacuum until we buy something other than a Dyson. 07/12/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this Vac! Our carpet looks brand new! We have a very hairy dog, and it is hard to keep up with the dog hair situation in our house. This vacuum makes it possible for my kids to sit on the floor and not be covered in hair. It's definitely helping our allergies! I love that emptying the canister is so easy and doesn't get dust everywhere like our old vacuum. I also love that the hose is so easy to use. Overall, everything on this machine is very user-friendly. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first and wasn't thrilled about spending the money for a vacuum cleaner, but I feel that it was 100% worth it and would definitely do it again. 07/06/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by 2nd Dyson I bought the DC28 Animal to replace my DC07 that I purchased in 2001. I have always been pleased with my DC07 and it continues to run. Since I bought the DC07 I have added a pet to my family thus, the decision to upgrade to the DC28. I have to say I am impressed. I vacuumed with the DC07 the day before I received the DC28. After assembling the DC28 I put it to the test on the area I had vacuumed the day before. It did a very good job and had an almost full canister when I finished. I also observed the the carpet itself seemed less packed than with the DC07, seems the DC28 exhibits improved suction over my previous model that lifts the carpet better. I also like the way the handle and hose has been improved on the DC28, much easier to work with as opposed to the DC07. Impressive too is the new on/off button with the 4 mode selectors to move from bare floors to the three carpet settings, very nice addition. To say the least I am very happy with my upgrade to the DC28 and will keep my old DC07 as back-up. Thanks again Dyson for an outstanding product! 07/05/2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by we have two dogs and a cat so this machine was perfect and we also have hard wood floors through out are home and some carpet on stairs.This machine is excellent for picking up animal hair, it gets right in the corners with ease and the attachments make vacuuming under the furniture a breeze. Rated 5 out of 5 by Totally Awesome!! This by far is the best vacuum I have ever owned! I have 3 cats and vacuum several times a week. This picks up ,everything. And it's super easy to empty the cannister. The vacuum is light and easy to get around everything! I have Multiple Sclerosis, and I need things that are easy to use. This is just perfect for me. Puch a button to turn on, and push a button to turn off. No having to step on a pedal to turn on or to get the vacuum in the right position. And the hose to cleans curtain and drapes is great. This was worth every penny I spent on it. Total quality!!! 06/19/2012

It definetely does and I was amazed at the amount of hair and dirt that came out of my carpets! It gets the down deep dirt and hair and looks almost new again. It not only looks cleaner but feels cleaner. It's amazing what a good vaccum can do. It gave the carpeting new life. I highly recommend this product. I have no regrets! 06/12/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great machine! My fiance and I received this as a wedding shower gift, and I couldn't be more thrilled! We have 2 cats that shed like crazy, and every time we vacuum it looks like we sucked up a kitten (which is a good thing - all the fur is out of the carpet!). It was disgusting to see how much dirt, dust, and fur was left behind by our old, cheap vacuum. I also love that this model comes with the tools - the flat tooll works great on linoleum floors and the mini turbine head comes in handy for the fur-coated couches. Love it! 06/12/2012

Rated 2 out of 5 by too heavy I find the dyson animal very heavy and hard to move around the house. It also doesn't get into the corners well. It does clean really good. I just wish it was lighter.. Rated 3 out of 5 Hard to push and pull The DC28 takes a lot of strength to use on heavy pile carpet. When you set the pile type correctly you can wear yourself out vacuuming one room. The other item I was extremely suprised about was the DC28 shut off with very little dirt in the collector. My rating on cleaning is 5 stars My rating on easy of use is only 2 stars. 05/23/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Review of the DC28 Animal I had done a great deal of research on the internet regarding the Dyson and was a little skeptical due to its price. I decided to "invest" (yes I chose that word on purpose) in the Dyson rather than continue to buy lesser expensive vacuum cleaners because I have 2 shedding dogs and a lot of carpet in my house and wanted a vacuum cleaner that would last. I wanted to wait until I had the Dyson for a couple of months before posting this review. First of all, I was impressed from the beginning when one only needed to "snap" a few components together to get started and that one did not ever have to replace filters. The first time I used it, I had to empty the container after each room - amazing! After vacuuming, it looks like I just had my carpets cleaned. The Dyson brings the carpet pile up like new. Another great feature - a simple push of a button empties the contents into a trash bin; no touching the yucky stuff - I like that! The other cool thing is that Dyson sent me an e-mail reminder to clean my filters which have to be washed under running water every 3 months. It also comes with a 5-year warranty. You can't even buy a store warranty as they do not exist. So, I figure for the price and quality of the carpets being cleaned, I am getting my money's worth. Rated 5 out of 5 by Greatest vacuum I've ever had! My husband bought me this new sweeper for an early Mother's Day gift & it is one of the greatest things he's ever gotten me. We have 2 indoor dogs & 5 indoor cats, so you can imagine the amount of animal hair we contend with every day. I was totally amazes at how well & how much my new sweeper picked up. Included with the sweeper was a special tool to clean furniture & pet beds & it is fantastic. What use to take me l/2 hour to clean each of our recliners, now only takes 15 mins at the most for each chair. I thorough recommend this sweeper to everyone with pets & even to those without. 05/16/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best by Far This is my 2nd Dyson. The 1st machine was "stolen" by my daughter-in-law. I replaced the 1st Ddyson with the best vac sold by another compamy on the market. Used that vac for 3 months and bought another Dyson Animal. Dyson is the best vac on the market as far as I am concerned. We have 2 dogs and 1 cat and there is animal hair in everyroom. We run the Dyson and it is all gone. In fact, I tested the other vac against the Dyson and the Dyson won hands down. Both were high cost vacs, but dollar for dollar, Dyson is the best buy and superior performer. 05/09/2012
