We have two pets, a Brittany Spaniel and a black hair cat, so shedding is a problem and our youngest suffers from ashtma. So, needless to say we have tested and tried a number of vacuums over the years and since Dyson has truly made a name for itself with its innovative and expensive vacuum cleaners when I purchased this unit I expected great suction and cleaning, durability and ease of use. Although the DC25 is very light and easy to manuever with the ball feature ALL else is sadly lacking. Durability is lacking as one of the hose gadgets chipped within the two weeks we had the vacuum home! Suction is not what it should be at all!!!!! I had to go over areas two or three times to pick up pet hair! After your done vacuuming pet hair has attached to the vacuum itself...makes you feel like you need another vacuum to clean this one out! SO I returned the vacuum cleaner and bought a much more inexpensive unit that advertises better suction than Dyson. We are testing it out! Thank you Walmart for great customer service!

This is the worst vacuum I have ever purchased. I have one other dyson ball vacuum cleaner and have had no problem. This was a lemon from the get go. To empty the canister the release button has broken twice because it is so hard to push. I constantly clean the canister. The motor has been making noises for the past two years. The thing about this is , it only gets used 5 months out of the year. I would never buy an animal again. I just purchased another yellow ball vacuum and I hope this one works well. I have always recommended this to family members. I hope I have no problems like my last one

I LOVE this vacuum! It is awesome! I have the newest dyson, the animal DC25, and absolutely LOVE iT! I got so tired of dealing with the cheap ones and having them not last that I finally broke down and spent some bucks. I'm thrilled with it. It has the ball technology and is SUPER easy to maneuver. It has a switch on the top to turn the brush head on and off so I can quickly and effortlessly go from the carpet to kitchen to kitchen rugs, etc. It's lightweight so the stairs are a breeze. It's so easy to use that I even vacuum my couches every time I vacuum my floors and have even vacuumed the top of my coffee table when it was covered in crumbs! :) My broom is now obsolete. Score! I got mine off Walmart's website and saved big.

I bought this DC17 Animal back in 09, although it has its scars to show this vacuum has outlasted any vacuum I have ever had!! The biggest problem I had was I went through the belts! At least one a year, however they were covered for many years. I have a Saint Bernard, they shed 365 days a year!! This vacuum kept up and kept going!! Now it makes a load squeaky noise when trying to vacuum using the brush, but the suction it still awesome and I can use the hose without a problem!! I upgraded early of 2015, with another Dyson. However I still have this as old faithful! Not giving her up until she quits completely!!

I have two long-haired dogs living in my house and I had burned up three vacuums over a two year period--cheaper ones, of course. I did research and decided to invest in a Dyson Animal. I loved it. I just wish I knew how to clean the tubes or whatever you call them. I am sure they are full of dog hair. It shopped working and I went to purchase another Dyson. I got a Big Ball. It kills my shoulders and wears me out to use. That's another story.

I am writing this review after having my Dyson animal ball upright vacuum for over a year. I would have to say that this is a dream come true! I've never had a clog! It sucks up things that no vacuum should be able to. I spilled a houseplant and sucked up the entire pot of dirt and my vacuum was packed full and STILL didn't lose ANY suction! I was so surprised. The filters are awazing because they are washable. Yes I said washable!! No more expensive hard to find filters to buy for my old windtunnel. I've saved sooooo much money with this machine. My carpet is not beat up eighther. I never have to pull out carpet by the threads in the roller. It just sucks so darn good! Hahahaha. I never let anyone vacuum anymore. Geeze. I didn't realize just how much I loved my vacuum until I had to review it.…if you buy it you won't be upset about anything. Except that you don't own the small handheld one. Because that would be awesome to let the family use for all their quick mess clean ups. Hehehehe

Amazing vacuum! I love it! It is light and easy to maneuver. It picks up so much dirt my other vacuums have left behind. I have two dogs and it takes care of that. It is also good on my wood floors. My other vacuum left wheel marks on the wood, but this one rolls on the wood floor surface smoothly and without scratching. Also, the soft bristles on the rotator do not scratch the floor. I like the attachments and where they are stored. I usually have such issues with other vacuums with the attachments falling off and loosing them. These are stored securely and out of the way. The vacuum attachment is real good for high up areas. It easily come up and you can vacuum fans, curtains, etc... things that you have to reach for. For simple pick up that are on the floor, close to the vacuum, you have to take out the extension wand and hook up the attachment directly to the hose. This is a little inconvenient. Other than this, I enjoy having this vacuum and enjoy my clean carpets and wood floors!

After years of going through vacuums, and spending a little more each time only to be looking again with in 2 years I had enough. I have a Cat, Dog, and guinea pig and 12 year old. Needless to say I need a vacuum that is reliable, sturdy and easy to use. I found all of the above and more with my Dyson DC25. The amount of dirt it picked up the first use was shocking. It made me wonder if i have ever owned a vacuum that was worth anything. I personally HATE to Vacuum. . Now that I go my dyson, ! I was all over the house, stairs, kitchen bedrooms. Its not only light weight, its easy to use. I put it together in 5 min. I figured out how to use it in a flash. The only issue i ran into was when I picked up Hay that had been tossed from the guinea pigs cage. It did get clogged in the tube. It was an easy fix and I was back to it in a flash. I also wish the cord was longer. It seems on the short side. Lastly the tube's material is stiff and i tended to pinch my fingers when using the hand held tools

The only good thing about this machine is the suction. It is heavy, the wand it akward to use, in fact almost impossible. When you pull the wand out of the handle the hose is so stiff you can't reach 3 feet without the machine tipping over. I HAVE HAD TO CALL customer service several times because the wand won't come out of the handle. They tell me how to disconnect several different things because the hose gets twisted. It fis hard to manurver around furniture, the ball will not fit under furniture as they want you to beleive. The value is not there. I wish I would have returned it within the 30 days instead of trying too give it a chance. I have recently had to hire a house keeper because of my health. After using it one time she now brings her own, a Eureka. I now us it to hang my jacket on the handle in the washroom. Again the only good thing about this vacuum is the suction and it does do a good job of that. Save your money.

Dyson Ball

I already owned the DC07 Pink and had been extremely pleased with it's overall performance. It does carpet and hard floors very well and is easy to operate. I own a cleaning business so I decided to purchase a second Dyson and keep my older one as a back up. I purchased the Dyson Ball because of its light weght and maneuverability. I was dissapointed however when after using it a few times I realized my hand and arm would ache from holding the weight of the vacuum as it pivots on the ball. I also did not like the way you have to "pop" it twice to sit it up. The other models sit up very easily. The cord is too short to clean a very big house, you have to keep moving it. The canister is too small for a large house, you have to empty it during cleaning. The hose is so tight the vacuum bumps you in the back when you try to extend it to clean with it. I love my other Dyson upright and will continue to tell my friends what a great product it is. But the Dyson Ball has issues that need to be resolved.

My husband and I have always wanted a Dyson Vacuum ever since we saw the commercials for them on TV. I, myself, even researched them on the internet cause of all the talk I have been hearing about them being superb. But the price always hindered us and we would settle for the "cheapie" vacuums. Well, after going through countless vacuums, my husband and I decided to save up the money and buy a Dyson Vacuum. We decided to go with the DC 25 Animal one because it is basically the same as the other DC 25, just has more accessories. Plus, with 2 females in our home (me and my daughter), there's a lot of hair that winds up all over the floor and stuff from brushing. We purchased it online cause it was cheaper that way, and picked it up the same day from the store. When we got home, we immediately put it together. The instructions are a little confusing and frustrating cause they're just pictures (very vague pictures, might I add). But we eventually got it put together. I got to try it out because my husband had to immediately leave for work shortly after. OMG! This vacuum is amazing. Not only is it very easy to use and push, it cleans like nothing I've ever seen before. I thought my carpet was clean before this vacuum cause I used a little stick vacuum on it the other day, but after using the Dyson, my carpets are so much cleaner and actually fluffy. I even saw a lot of dirt, hair, and other junk in the canister. It kinda amazed me @ how much was in it, but grossed me out @ the same time. I haven't gotten to use the hose or the accessories yet, but I'm sure that since I'm already impressed, using them will impress me even more. So all in all, I do highly recommend this vacuum. Yeah, the price is high, but it is well worth every penny and you wont be disappointed.

We bought this machine because we had read in several places that it was the best vacuum to own if your pet shed. We also got it for much less than the listed price because of a special sale and discounts. It does work well on our couch and on the floors. On my wood floors it works great. On rugs is were to fails to work as well as my last vacuum. The reason I have graded it a 4 rather than a 5 is that the beater brush does not work on small particles and many times the suction is not enough to suck up those small particles. Also it fails to fluff up the carpet as much as my old vacuum did. Is it easy to maneuver? Yes. Does it pick up the hair and dust that lies on the carpets? But Fluffing the carpets, and picking up the small, strings, paper, and other stuff it fails at unless you really work on it. Dyson needs to work on the beater bar brush to get that part of the machine really working. I'm not sure it is worth the list price and I would not buy it for that price anytime.

We had a baby last December. The first thing I worried about after bringing him home was all of the dander and hair from our pets. So my husband and I researched and finally decided on a Dyson DC25. I already knew I wanted a Dyson by reputation and suggestions from friends who already owned their products. All I can say is I was not disappointed at all. The ball feature makes it SO easy to navigate around rooms, the cord is conveniently long so I don't have to continually find new places to plug it is as I move from room to room and it leaves no trace of dog/cat hairs on the floors. I use it every morning before my son plays in our living room and weekly throughout the rest of our home. The attachments are great and I love how the handle ejects from the unit and can be used as a far reaching extension. It has never lost suction and I love how easy it is to empty the debris container. I could go on and on, but you get the idea - this is an awesome vacuum cleaner and I can't imagine not having it.

I have had the Dyson DC25 Animal for a year now and could not be more pleased. I purchased this particular model because I have 3 indoor cats and found that other vacuums just couldn't get the hair out of my carpet...and they didn't stand a chance at getting the hair off the furniture!! This vacuum does everything you could want it to do, and it will do it better than you expect. I can't believe how much it picks up! And the wand attachment with the spinning bristles gets all of the hair from the furniture with ease. And of course, the ball. This makes it feel like you have so much control. You never have to re-situate yourself to get the vacuum to go in a certain direction, you just simply twist your wrist and it rolls right where you want it to. The canister can be emptied with the push of a button over a trash can and easily popped right back into place so you can continue cleaning in a snap! I would, and do, recommend this to all of my friends and family. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

I love this vacuum. If I could feed my old Electrolux to it, I would. If I did, I bet it would chew it up & spit it out (with no harm coming to my new Dyson). It vacuums like no other upright I have owned. It is very lightweight. It makes vacuuming easier & honestly...more fun. The amount of dirt it picks up is amazing. The attachment hose comes out of the handle with ease & works like a dream. The attachments snap into place, on the unit, so you should never lose them. The entire design is perfect & makes everything much more easy. If you are considering this vacuum, but are concerned about the price..think about all the other uprights you have purchased. I have bought several & could have bought this beauty a long time ago. Take my word for it...you will not regret this vacuum purchase.

It's between the DC25 and the DC28 in cost, weight, capacity, cord length, etc. It is still a "ball" which the DC28 isn't. I still don't know if this is more of a gimick or if there is real value. I think it is less likely to scratch hard floors than dragging the wheels around on a fixed wheel vaccum. I have the DC25 and I feel that the cord length and the capacity are a little on the small size. It all depends on the size of your house. Mine is 2200sqft, 3 bed, 3 dogs. If yours is smaller, I'd say the DC25 is fine. If it's larger, I'd upgrade.

  • A. The DC25 is on the ball and it maneuvers so easy. The 28 is like a standard up right. I wasnt sure about the ball till I tried it but I wouldnt have any other vacuum now. Good Luck! Which ever you choose you wont be disappointed with its performance.

  • A. I have the DC25 and while I have not tried the DC28, I think I would like it better. I dont care about the ball - its kinda pointless really. The DC28 automatically adjusts to the floor so going from carpet to hard surface may be very nice. Go for the DC28. Check out dyson's website and compare.

  • A. I bought the DC28 and loved it..EXCEPT. The design of the front doesnt really allow you to get under the edge of a couch or chair.AND doesnt fit under the bottom of a standard kitchen counter. No matter what angle it doesnt reach the edge of the kickboard...you have to use the wand. It does have a long hose but I didnt want to have to get the hose out everytime I vacuumed. I have a REALLY furry dog that sheds like crazy. This machine really got the hair up but I couldnt live with the nose being shaped like a carpet shampooer..so I returned it.Will prob try the DC25.

  • A. DC-25 is light and easier to handle but the DC-28 has better suction on carpets. The DC-28 may be better if you have animals.

  • A. I'd go with the 25 because of the ball that helps the vacuum turn so well

  • A. I chose the Dyson DC animal because of the pet hair feature. We have a cat and the cat hair drive me nuts. The 28 animal is fantastic...

  • A. I wouldn't waste my money on either. The DC25 was a total piece of junk which broke in less than a week. It is also difficult to put together and using the wand is a complicated affair. Also, the suction was not very good, it didn't even make lines in the carpet.
