When pedaling backwards, does the machine maintain its resistance, or does it go slack like a regular bicycle?

yes, if it is a full size executive type desk. a small desk it would be tight and might not be high enough to use the pedlar.

It would depend on the desk. Mine is a bit lower than the standard desk so I have it sitting on the floor beside the desk. My knees would hit the underside desk while pedaling so I just swivel my chair 90 degrees and pedal for a few minutes whenever I can. My guess is that it probably won't fit well under most desks since your knees will be going up and down.

I purchase this exercise peddler as a additional piece of exercise equipment for home use to gain extra strength in my legs following knee replacement surgery.  Although I am taking outside therapy this exercise at home allows me to performs my regular routine program and also have the exercise at home to work with.  I would recommend this exercise to anyone as it is very excellent piece of equipment for strengthen the legs limbs.

Great Buy

I recently had a total knee replacement and this peddler has pushed my range of motion over the top. As with any surgery, you have less mobility when you arrive home, this is the best devise to keep your blood flowing and get you back on your feet. I use hand weights while peddling and feel better than I did pre op. Highly recommend for low impact workout.

excellent for post op therapy

Easy to put together, sturdy and works well. Fits nicely under a desk for work-a-holics wanting a little exercise while they work.
One hole still had the metal blocking it, but was able to tap it out easily with a screwdriver.
I would recommend this product to anyone.
