  • A. You sure can. However, when you do this is when it starts to "move all over the place." As I said above I use it while sitting in a lift chair and when I increase the tension I can't get any exercise because the bike won't stay still. It probably would be ok if against a wall or wedged into something to hold it still. I can't do that and use my lift chair so I tighten it to just before it would move. I assume you would not have this problem if using with your arms.

  • A. yes. there is a screw on the front top with a large plastic knob. Just screw it in and it gets harder to peddle.

This seems like a much better idea. She has an older stationary bike she wants me to bring up from the basement. I'm afraid she will fall getting off of it. She has knee problems & shoulder from past surgeries. It sounds like folks use it on table tops and peddle it with their hands also? Thank you so much.

  • A. Absolutely leave the stationary bike in the basement. Yes, she can use this for easy upper limb exercise by putting on the table. It's not heavy. If you read one of my other answers you'll see I use mine while in an electric lift chair. You'd be surprised how much better it is to be able to adjust my height above or just behind the pedals. The chair can be adjusted inch by inch to be perfect. As many others commented this exercisor does "move all over the place" but only when you adjust it to high resistance. I would have to use another chair in order to place the exercisor against a wall to keep it still. I'm still trying to come up with another answer to be able to use it with more resistance.

  • A. I bought it for my 70 yr old dad. has used it every day since we got it. you can put on table top for arms. we havent done that yet. but it has really helped his circulation. I had the same concerns falling off. This is much safer & doesn't take up as much room.

  • A. I think this is a much safer alternative for your mother. She can sit anywhere and use it. I have not tried using my hands to exercise my arms but I'm sure I could if I wanted to. Good luck.

  • A. Mine is working great and she can put it on a table and peddle with her arms. Recumbent bike might have more resistance. I sit in my wheelchair but she should be able to sit in her recliner in the upright position.

  • A. It would be a very good idea. My husband had a stoke and the Physical & Occupational Therapists recommended this instead of a stationary bike. It sits on the table for his arms and the floor for his legs. I even use it

I purchased this equipment because I have a very sedentary job. I work in call center as a trainer and majority of the time I am sitting all day. I made the purchase about 2 1/2 weeks ago and I have been using it since the very first day I recieved it. I keep it at work under my desk. You want to talk about convenience?? OMG!! I pull this little thing from under my desk for about 15 minutes three times during my shift. I love it. I mean granted you are not getting a full body workout, but I can honestly say I do work up a sweat. I recently purchased a small fan for my desk to help keep me cool so I won't sweat as much. I love the fact that I can track the calories burned, the time, and the reps. According to the machine I have been averaging about 130 calories or so for 15 minutes of cycle. I am not sure how accurate it is, but the thought of doing that three times a day totaling 390 calories a day without even leaving my desk!! Once I did it for 25 minutes and the machine said I burned 230 calories!!! The only thing is I wish the resistance could be a little more stronger, but hey for the price of this machine it's not bad at all. Ladies, please don't try to use this with your heels on. You will need some sneakers to do this effectively! I bought this to help me move a little. My goal is to move for 5 minutes every hour. This a great little tool to help keep you moving without having to leave your desk. If you worried that it would be a distraction for your co-workers, don't! It isn't at all. Actually many of my co-workers are intrigued and interesting in purchasing one for themselves. Hey you never know, you may start a health trend and become a positive influence at the workplace!!!

Better Than I'd Expected

I pedal this thing for 2-3 hours each night while watching TV. Burn 800-1,000 calories each night and hardly break a sweat or even notice I'm exercising. I don't screw down the resistance more than just enough to keep it snug, to do more is not really necessary. If you want to burn calories, this is the way to go. If you want to build leg muscle mass, get a regular exercycle. I use it far more than the $500 exercycle I used to have years ago and takes up almost no room. Best investment I've made for burning off sugar before bedtime and my legs are in great shape (still need to lose the gut but the muscles underneath are already tightening up). I still weigh over 250 and have no problem squatting to pick up things off the floor now.

I wanted something that I could put under my desk and pedal for light, tension free exercise. If this is all you're looking for than this item works. BUT - a) This was NOT a new product. It was either a used or re-manufactured unit. Even the packaging had signs of being opened and re-sealed... and not very carefully at that. b) I inserted 'tension knob' but even screwing it all the way down didn't change the tension on the pedal. It seems the pad or whatever it was supposed to come into contact with was either missing or had moved from where it was supposed to be. c) The digital display doesn't work. On checking the battery it was dead and very corroded. Not wanting the hassle of returning it, and because pedaling with no tension is all I really wanted I'm keeping it but I'm not happy with the product an definitely DO NOT recommend it to others.

I am a senior citizen recently diagnosed with circulation prroblems in my legs. I had three procedures done and placed on medication for the condition but it kept getting worse (swelling of lower legs etc). I was encouraged to go to the senior center and "exercise" and use the stationary bicycle. Well, I'm a home body and just never got over there. Finally I started pricing home "pedalers". Of course most were out of my price range but this one. I read lots of reviews good and not so good but went ahead and ordered. I chose this one not only for price but for the "already assembled" and the "fold up for storage" in the description. It arrived, I pulled it out of the box, unfolded it, put it on the floor in front of my comfy chair in front of the tv and "rode off into the sunset"! I could feel the burn almost immediately as I was so out of shape. Long story short, the swelling was gone 2 days later after using the pedaler two 5-10 minute sessions each day. I am so very pleased. I love the status indicator which tells how many calories I've burned, revolutions per minute etc. I haven't turned up the resistance yet (baby steps) but at this rate I see lots of success in the future. I am very pleased.

A 91 year old friend bought a peddler from Walmart. Not this one. When I saw hers, I knew I wanted something with a few bells and whistles on it. This is the one. It tells you the number of revolutions, time spent with it, calories burned, and has a tension screw that you can tighten for more tension. I am just getting started with it so I don't have any tension on it. It peddles smooth, is sturdy and even folds up for easy storage. I keep mine out all the time and peddle while I watch tv. I love this little "bike." I don't like sitting on a bicycle seat so this is perfect! One of the best exercise decisions I have made.
