It has like 1" increments. The legs adjust and the handle adjusts. Easy to put together (no tools) and sturdy.

The increments are about an inch. It will work fine at the 17"

Yes, this will work on a standard hospital bed.

I believe in 1 inch increments (can&#39;t be closer, holes in stem would be too close). Thinking about buying this bed rail. My moms bed has a shorter boxspring and the mattress isn&#39;t real tall. Was wondering is still will work.

This is very easy to assemble.  I like the design because it fits between the mattress and box spring with no need to permanently mount it.   It was very helpful in giving my mom a handle to help pull herself upright  while in bed.   After seeing how helpful and easy this handle works, our neighbor wants to purchase one too for her elderly aunt.

My daughter got one for me to use at her home in Florida but it was over $80 . Couldn't believe how much money I saved by buying from WM. I've had brain surgery and my balance is way off when I get up in the mornings, I would recommend this for anyone. Ty

Everything works great except for the extension piece to change the height it is loose and makes the handle wobbly.

I broke my back so I needed something to help me move around in the bed.  Also I needed help in getting out of the properly.  This bed rail was the answer to everything I needed .  Very sturdy.  If putting under a king size mattress please have two people to help.  You can't just slide it between the mattresses.  Someone has to hold the mattress up while the other places it between the two.

I'm a physical therapist who regularly installs this device on patients beds. They are extremely helpful in helping people maintain their independence with bed mobility. It's very sturdy.  The only problems I've encountered are when the box spring was a shorter height andvthe frame was low to the floor. It didnt fit. Other than that, it has fit most standard beds and the new deeper mattresses. It will not work on an adjustable bed where the head of the bed goes up and down. I would also suggest installing it higher toward the top of the bed, so it doesn't impede ones ability to get in/out without having to scoot.

I looked at several of these via internet and am so glad I purchased this one and not one that costs twice as much.  This bed rail has been a life saver for me.  Due to a bad back, I find it difficult to get out of bed.  This bed rail makes it so much easier.  Great purchase!

This is so perfect for my husband to get in and out of bed.

This is nice and sturdy and works well but it's too high, 16.5 inches is the lowest the bar that slips under the matress will go, most people that need this have low beds. We had to cut the legs to make it fit and lost all adjustability in the process. Make sure you measure before you buy.

Good product but too high

This bed assist handle went together easily and I was able to slip it between the mattress and box spring by myself. It is very sturdy and doesn't slip around. The one downside I found was it did not adjust low enough. It would have been a perfect fit if I could have lowered it one more inch. It works okay even though the mattress is slightly higher at the head of the bed. My father loves it.
