We're using the polyester core mattress for the top and a mattress on the bottom that we already had. Walmart.com is better to deal with than Site to Store so you may want to pay the extra to get it sent to your home. My girls love the beds and the only bad thing I can say is that now they fight over who sleeps on the top. 08/18/2011
