We purchased this chair completely based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews as I was actually ready to spend $800 on a chair I loved... I talked myself out of it since that is truly silly. I thought we would give this a try since there is no risk... could be returned and didn't have to pay shipping with the site to store option. My husband was VERY leary. Anyhow, it arrived and probably took me about 40 min to put together... not really hard, just a bit time consuming. The chair is made rather well with the materials given, however the materials are rather cheap! Looks like cheap wood as the frame and cheap batting material covering the barely there padding! The rocker portion however seems nice, sturdy and heavy... too bad the whole thing wasn't built to that same standard. Anyhow, got it put together, it's cute... rather small compared to the pottery barn dream chair, and far far less comfortable. True, it is extremely firm... very little padding in the seat cushion, and chair back, and almost non existent in the arm rests. I am 5'8"" and my head comes up over the back of the chair... have to slouch to rest my head. I also agree with the other reviews that state it is hard to rock on carpet... not impossible, but really nice to have the ottoman (which we did get)... just not nearly the glider motion we are used to in our other nursery. So.. overall, rather cheaply made but feels pretty sturdy and secure. Certainly not comfortable but not terribly uncomfortable either unless perhaps the head rest issue will plague me down the road when I end up breastfeeding... I can see how my neck will be stressed with no where to rest my head. Chair is cute.. but I disagree totally that it looks just like the pottery barn chairs as I looked at those at the store and they are nothing alike in look or in size but similar in style only. Soooooooo.... even with the middle of the road review we still decided to keep the chair! After all we decided we were saving $500 by keeping this one and since it does look cute in the room and it at least serves the purpose we decided for the money it was the smarter move. Hope this helps!

-Very Comfy, but if you're picky like me you may want a pillow for lumbar support -Fairly easy to assemble -Good for the price -Doesn't rock very easy on my carpet -Very bulky in my tiny nursery (as seen in the photo) -I have been waiting almost a couple months for a slipcover ("out of stock" right now). If only they came with the chair. So for now, I just use blankets to upholster it.

    Great Chair

I read all the reviews on this chair before buying, and it prevented me from buying it for a while. The major complaints I read were it was stiff: I think it's better to say sturdy. If you're looking for a chair that when you sit down you melt into magical softness then don't buy it. But overall the chair is comfy. The other complaint was the rocking: I do think the rocking factor is off a hair, it rocks, but to rock all the way back on the legs you do have to push a bit. My dad is going to shave a hari off the back of the legs so it naturally falls back easier, that's a quick fix to the problem. My other comments, the cover, not an option! You have to have it, i tried to get it without and it has zippers and holes in the sides and back showing, so it's not up for discussion you have to buy the cover. As far as putting it together, it was like 5 pieces, super super super easy, not sure who or why said it took like 3 hours, but all i can say is this chair should not be a challenge for anyone to put together! I think for $229 it's a great investment. It's a very nice looking chair, it doesn't look cheap at all and it's a great size, and it's comfy enough.

I am planning on picking this up from the store when it arrives. I am just wondering the exact size of the boxes to make sure I don't need to take my husbands truck. Thank you for your time.
    by an anonymous customer 4/9/2012
    • i don't know the exact size, but the box is very tall and wide. you'll need a truck/suv/mini van. this box will not fit in a car.

    • I think it was something like 31x31x24. The box was pretty big. We have a fairly large 4-door car with a large trunk, and the box would not fit. We had to take the pieces of the rocker out of the box and load them individually, in order to get it into our car. The employees at Walmart were kind enough to throw away the big box for us.

    • This item fit in our Jeep wrangler. It comes in a larger box. It would depend on the vehicle used.

    • The rocker frame comes in one box that is 24.5 x 30.5 x 31.5 inches.

    • The box is like a 4x4x2.5 ft. You'll need a spacious suv or truck to pick it up.

    • Ha...this is funny because I didn't think about this when I got ours...I went to get it with my son in a lincoln towncar...has a deep but kinda narrow trunk...we had to bungee it. Slipcover box went in backseat and should go in any car just fine, but the chair would not...its in one huge box....think the old panel tv boxes...probably a 32 in one...perfectly square box about 2.5 square....if you have a deep trunk without obstacles in it...spare tire etc it might but i would say a truck or suv is much easier...a tiny car truck would not work at all....IF THIS HELPS...the chair came in pieces as follows...each complete side...the back and cushion...so if you take a complete side of it and square that...you have the box

    • I dont know the exact size of the boxes, but they are very large. I opted to have it delivered. I say take your husband's truck if that is not an option. Better safe than sorry.

    • It's a big box. May fit in back of SUV, but truck is your best bet.

    • You will definitely need a truck. I managed to fit it all in my SUV but it wouldve never fit in my 4 door car. Its a few boxes but the main chair is big

Can this chair be used without the rockers? Are they optional and need to be assembled onto the cahir itself?
    by DivaD530 9/9/2012
    • Yes, you do not have to put the rockers on the chair when you assemble it but there are no feet if the rockers aren't used.
      by RebelsCoco10/25/2013

    • The rockers don't have to be used. The entire chair must be assembled. Very very easy to do.

    • You can use it without the rocker, but it will be low to the floor. You just do not have to assemble that part onto the chair.

    • It could be, but it would be very low to the ground without feet

    • no, i have actually been trying to convert it myself and I have tried different legs and because the screw holes are set back it looks funny

    • The rockers need to be assembled to the the chair. Technically, I guess you don't have to attach them, but the chair would sit lower to the ground...
      by vabchmom11/3/2012
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • Not really - In my opinion, you would need to use the rockers. Or, if you are handy, I suppose you could buy or make 4 legs and attach them. But I think it would be odd to have the chair frame sit flat on the floor with no rockers or legs whatsoever.
      by MomToBe20139/25/2012

    • This chair does not come with regular legs like the Pottery Barn Chair.

    • You could set it on the floor without the rockers. It would be 4 or 5 inches shorter than it is with them attached. The rockers aren't attached when it arrives.

    • I think you can use this chair without the rockers. The only issue is that the bottom of the chair will sit flush on the floor and so will the slipcover.

hi - like this chair and would like to get it recovered in my own fabric - but wondering if it is a glider rocker or just a rocker. thanks fo ryour help!
    by an anonymous customer 2/17/2012
    • Just a rocker. It is not a glider. I am going to make my own slipcover as well. It's a great chair for the money.

    • Just a rocker, but if you haven't purchased it, I probably wouldn't. It looks nice but the wooden rocker part is off and the seat is deep so we can't actually rock in it. We never use it...

    • This chair is only a rocker. If you are going to put the money into recovering, you are probably better off buying a more comfortable chair that is a little pricier but has the fabric cover that you want. This chair, in my opinion, is not worth the expense of custom upholstery.
