Hmm...seeing that I don't really eat dog food, I can only say it must be ok..all 4 dogs scarfed it down, but then they scarf just about anything I put in their bowls, well except celery. Price was the best I have ever seen for 46lbs of dog food and with FREE shipping a great deal. Fedex man almost sprained his back try to get to the door. Amazing how 2 bags (92lbs) qualified for FREE SHIPPING from Walmart..but hey, I'm happy.

Was feeding our son's pit bull lamb and rice and quite costly and we noticed his stool was loose and he had gas a lot. Researched and found where Purina Dog Chow was really good for him. The problems ceased and WalMarts price much more affordable, thank you.

I am presently feeding my large breed dogs Blue Dog food. They list there dog food as for example Chicken and Brown rice, Lamb and rice, etc. and list the protein first on the ingredience list so you know what protein there getting. How does the potein in purina dog chow compare to whats in Blue formula. I just want to make sure my dogs get a good, healthy dog food. and I was always told that the first ingriedient should always list the form of protein first. Can you help with this. I would really like to switch them over to purina dog chow but I want them to get a good quality food with a healthy form of protein. Thanks for your time. thanks so much for your time. Sincerely, Robert

    • Whole grain corn is the first ingredient before meat. I had the thought of getting away from GMO corn, but how many of the ingredients are GMO? I tried the meat first food, but saw no difference. My Rottweilers and Labs were always healthy and lived beyond their life expectancy. My belief is this: I have always supplemented their dog food with veg's. especially cabbage and sweet potatoes, and also, but not every day, some raw chicken thighs. My Lab's vet said that in his many years of practice he had never seen such a beautiful dog at 13 years old with a beautiful coat and as healthy as a puppy. Starting my garden this year.

    • There's a reason for the huge difference in price between Blue and Purina Dog Chow. Pure Balance from Walmart is a better food than Purina for your dogs and the price is better than Blue. I have large breed and they do extremely well on Pure Balance. I give Dog Chow to any rescue dogs that need to put on weight. Check the ingredients in Pure Balance.
