Comes with a lightbulb!

I bought this lamp as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves it! It's very masculine and the dimensions are just right for a nightstand. As far as we can tell, it only responds to being touched by hand, so it won't change settings if it's bumped by something or the table it's on is shaken. Also, it came with an incandescent, 3-way lightbulb, which I was not expecting! I am very pleased with this purchse!

My lamp died at the time my bulb burned out--I do not know if another bulb like the original would fix it or not. I cannot find what sort of bulb this is as it is completely blackened. Is it a three way bulb? This is for the Doe Li touch lamp. Thanks.
by phoneshop
  • This lamp takes a standard 60-watt bulb, which makes it super easy to find and replace. The 3-way dimming is done by the lamp, not the bulb. Essentially, the first level will be at around 20% of the 60 watts, then approximately 60% and then 100% of the bulb's full wattage. The lamp can also take lesser-watt bulbs. Just avoid anything higher than 60 watts. If the lamp is still not working, there's a good chance the dimmer burned out. You can find a replacement dimmer at Home Depot or Lowes. Also, many lamp stores will replace it for you. But, in my opinion, it would be easier and better to probably just buy a new lamp. Good luck!

  • Use regular bulbs - not 3-Way. I have 3 of these and they don't require a 3-way bulb (at all). You are wasting money buying and using 3-Way bulbs in this lamp.

  • I have a regular incandescent bulb in mine as the original bulb was damaged. I did not use a 3-way bulb. Just match up the replacement bulbs to the size of the threaded base when you purchase a replacement.

  • It does not state anything on the bulb. But Im guessing it is a 3 way. My lamp is new so Im basing the answer on looking at the bulb that came with my lamp.

  • Yes, it takes a 3-way bulb. I personally would choose a 3-way where the lowest setting was *very* low, like 15W or so, since we use our lamps in the bedroom, and the low setting makes a terrific night light.

  • I have had many touch lamps, and it seems like when the bulb burns out, the lamp burns out. I don't know why (it's really annoying!!), but that seems to be the case. If someone knows differently, let me know.

  • It is a three-way bulb. Any three-way bulb would work as long as the end is the right size to screw in. Good luck!

  • 3-Way bulb not required. I finally found the 60 watt max listed on the metal bulb socket. Plus, is there such a thing as a 3-Way bulb of 20/40/60W Type A bulb?
