I have fought with starting fires for years. I can't believe that it is so easy using this product. No paper, cardboard, or kindling required. Easy to use and priced right, only one starter needed per fire.

There are other decent fire starters out there, but most are both much more expensive and much more bulky. These are the handiest and easiest to store. I do believe the claim that you don't need kindling is a bit much. A little kindling is necessary with this product to get a fire up and roaring quickly, which I need to do on cold winter mornings. I have an older Franklin stove that doesn't burn through the night, so I have to start fires just about every morning in the winter. These are handy and reasonably priced.

This product lights the fire and is great kindling to get it going.

    • A. Yes, I use this in my wood stove. I do have the chimney cleaned every year.

    • A. Should work great. Just raise it up off the bottom so it can get air.

    • A. I use it all the time. I don't know for sure if it's 100% safe for catalytic combustors, but I use it in mine, and by the time the bypass is closed, the starter is history, so it would seem to be okay. In my non-catalytic Franklin stove that I use much more, I've used these thousands of times with no ill effects.

    • A. Not only can it be used in a wood stove, I highly recommend it, especially if kindling is difficult to find! Works better than fatwood I've been using. Can be found in stores or ordered online.
