  • A. Yes it is very quiet. However one thing to note that it is has intelligent cooling. So if you are using it as a server... you will notice that every 5 min or so the CPU fan will kick 'on' (speeds up to where you will notice it) to cool off the system and do a power supply fan check for about 2 seconds. It's weird if you are not used to it but nice exchange for the quiet. If you tax the unit to its limits at all times, then it will run more often this way. But that is also why these units last for many years.

  • A. Yes. You may need an adadpter for your your monitor depending on what type it is. This computer has a standard VGA connector - your monitor cable may either be that or HDMI. If it is the wider HDMI connector, you can get an adapter for around a dollar or two. Your monitor usually ships with one if it is new enough. Tip: VGA is usually more narrow and blue. HDMI is wider and usually white.

  • A. Hello, Although this computer is not sold by Dell, I will give my best advice about the system when I can. You can use any USB based keyboard and mouse with this computer. If you have a wireless mouse/keyboard, make sure that you have the accompanying USB wireless dongle that allows them to communicate with the computer. This computer does not support Bluetooth devices, configured as it is now. Hope this helps! JonathanNforDell

This product Dell Pre-Owned, Refurbished Black GX520 Desktop PC with Intel Pentium 4 Processor, 2GB Memory, 160GB Hard Drive and Windows 7 was great. I took it out of the box and hooked it up to my monitors and turned it on, and everything worked just like it said it would. I am totally satisfied. I hooked it up to my wi-fi/Modem and the internet is fast, the email is fast, everything is fast. Excellent product. I will do business with Wallmart again. Very professional. The priduct is great. And, it looked great. No scratches, no nothing. I lookes brand new. Thanks, Gilmore.

Wrong OS installed

Dell does not recommend win 7 with this system because it is very unstable and has not been tested properly with that os. The highest recommended is win xp home edition, And they will not help anyone with tech support if win 7 is installed Whoever did the refurbish on these went against their contract with dell by installing win 7 on it. Dell refuses to help me untill i purchase win xp home and uninstall win 7. I use a pc at home on a daily basis i bought this as a cheap replacement of a prior system 3 years old that had a motherboard issue in order to save up for a new one equal to the previous system. This system altho old is a decent home pc however the fact that it crashes randomly because of an os that never should of been installed on it Is rather sad, Keep in mind if you buy this computer u will need to uninstall win 7 and replace it with win xp home edition if you don't want to have issues down the line with random crashes and blue screen errors regarding hardware malfunction

I was very happy to find this refurbished computer for the price I paid (and free shipping too!). We needed a new desktop, we have a good Dell Monitor and speakers but needed just a modem. This does the job, although a little slower when loading/playing videos, than I'd think for one that's been completely refurbished. If not for that, it would have gotten Five Stars all the way. I'm just SO glad to have found one to replace our old one when it quit, that WASN'T Windows 8!! That was a HUGE plus in itself!! We haven't had it long enough to know how it will hold up, but our old one that was also a Dell lasted about 10 years. I'm hoping for close to that for this one, as a computer is a (KIND OF) must have and we can't afford brand new, nor do we want Windows 8!! (I've never used Win 8 but have heard only bad things about it.) I would definitely recommend it if you need a new computer (our old one totally crashed) and DON'T want Windows 8. I'm very pleased with it for what we use it for.

Very Bad Refurb Job on Computer
4/26/2014

Customer review by opalgreen

Bought this for my bedridden mother to play games on, watch Netfix and surf the web. Problems kept coming up. She finally got fed up with it and PAID $360.00 to Microsoft Technical support to dial in remotely and clean up the mess the refurb people left. There were 123 various virus issues. Lots of things configured wrong. The Microsoft people worked on the computer all day long running various clean up type programs and configuring stuff. It was kinda cool watching them. I'm a big fan of refurbished items but this was a major fail. We'd have been better off to just buy a new computer. The $360 she paid covers a year of support. It was a much better deal than hauling it down to the local repair center but still......we haven't had this computer a week. Should not have had to make that kind of investment so early in the game to fix what should not have been a problem in the first place. I can't recommend this computer to anyone else. The company doing the refurbish on this was super sloppy.

I purchased this computer because I was having issues with my old computer that had Windows 8. So I got another computer I had going only to realize why I got the other one. The D drive was at its max and it kept causing issues. I didn't want to spend too much for another computer so I took a chance on this computer. I does have a good processor (3.19 ghz). They could have updated the video card on it because when I got it that was an issue. I somewhat got it figured out (I'm not a computer whiz). I gave it an average for value and for what to expect. I would recommend only if you are on a budget and don't have a lot of money for a simple computer. It does have some negatives that may have been overlooked when refurbished. I don't know if it had a video card in it but where you would put one the cover on the back was missing. Since getting it I put AVG anti virus on it and AVG tune up. I hope that it will do me OK since I've only had it a few days.
