I just got this before Christmas and it has been the best computer I have ever owned. I did go big on this purchase with the ssd & 16 megs of ram. It starts up in about 12 seconds and shuts down about the same. I'm just now getting comfortable with windows 8 and all of the features included with it. If your hesitant don't be as there is a desktop that works just like your old versions of Windows. The touch screen does not seem to show the finger marks near as bad as my iPad does and cleaning it is quick with the edge to edge glass. Using the touch screen is a breeze and works like magic. My old desktop that this replaced was constantly making hard disk noise and this new unit is almost silent. My wife thinks next to the touch screen, the best thing about this unit is the fact that we were able to haul off a crate of wires from under our desk and can now see the floor. So far I cannot think on one bad thing to say about this other than the price. I hope I'm good for years to come!

I am a pretty big Apple fan. I love my iPhone and iPad. Loved the form factor and function of the iMac but, I actually prefer Windows 7 over OSX. I have had a few Dell PC's that have been very good, but kind of "boring" in the design department. After reading very good reviews from various sources, I pulled the trigger and bought the XPS 2710. I bought the model with the 3rd Generation Intel Core 7 processor. I am more than impressed. The reviews are right. In my opinion The XPS 2710 beats the iMac flat out. The build quality is top notch. The screen is beautiful. There are more than enough ports to go around and the performance is outstanding. The included wireless keyboard is very nice and compares favorably to the one included with the iMac. The mouse on the other hand could be better, but then again Apple isn't known for its outstanding mice either. I think its a compliment to Dell when my only complaint is the mouse. Dollar for dollar the iMac loses hands down to the Dell XPS 2710! GREAT JOB DELL!

Although I’ve experienced some problems with the device as it came from the factory with a slightly bend stand and later on the SATA cable of the BD-rom got loose (It’s been fixed by Dell quite fast. Firstly they suggested the replacement but I refused as I had placed lot of content on HDD by that time) the overall impression is more than a positive =) Pros: Even though there is no SSD and 16 GB of DDR in the Malaysian version of this AIO the processing speed remains on a very high level of performance. The screen is perfect but it actually could have been flawless without the glass (on the other hand the glass protects the screen from children’s fingers and cat’s paws =) ) Games run as good as it can be expected of such kind of PC It also can be a good replacement for a TV/mediacenter if we are talking about small rooms. IR helps a lot. Cons: The in-build speakers are basic ones. Solved it with my Dynaudio Stickers of Intel and Windows on the front panel. PS The only wish is GTX 690 on-board =) Overall rating is 4.8 out of 5

I have been waiting on a desktop like this for years to finally get off the out-of-tune Apple bandwagon and let me tell you, Dell has knocked this one out of the park! I am a graphic designer, and the colors and sharpnesss on the screen are noticeably better than on my old 27" iMac. Not only is this baby blazingly fast, I can have a half dozen programs from Adobe Creative Suite open at a time and the XPS One instantly handles them all. Tech heads have gushed about the obvious stuff here but some nice things they haven't noticed: the little sliding door over the webcam, the solid-feel and fantastic response of the keyboard, and just the all-in-all sexiness of the machine. I have it side by side with my iMac while I am transferring stuff and there is just no question on which one is the hot new bad boy. From all of us designers and advertising people out here who have been looking for a way out of Apple's crystal prison, thank you Dell!

Everything great except for screen flicker

I got the fully loaded XPS one 27 - i7 processor, 16G ram, touch screen, 32G SSD, blu-ray. Really liked the machine - the touch works great with windows 8 - except on some desktop applications, where the buttons are very small - its easy to click on the wrong one. So, really nice machine, but i had to return it, due to flicker from the LED screen. It uses PWM (pulse wave modulation) to control screen brightness. This essentially turns the LEDs on/off rapidly to simulate dimming the screen. Unfortunately this causes rapid flickering - which causes eye strain for myself. Most people probably wouldn't notice it. If i turn the brightness up to full - the flicker is gone - but then the screen is way too bright. If dell would install a dimmer backlight, this could solve the problem. Also, you can check any LED or LCD monitor for flicker, by viewing it thru a digital camera display. Also, there is a small amount of fan noise - not a deal breaker - but it is noticeable. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this computer, if flicker doesnt bother you.

The best alternative to an iMAC 27

I got the refurbish non touch version of the XPS one 27. Everything about this system is just about right. The best thing about it is the screen, Dell didn't skimp on it. There is one weakness and two nits. The weakness is the antenna design for the wifi. I put the the XPS in the exact same position as my Macbook pro. The Macbook is able connect to my N900 router at full bars for both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies. The XPS sees the 5 GHz sporadically and the 2.4 is spotty. Sometimes it times out. Tried updating to the newest Centrino 6235-N driver, no improvement. Plugged in a USB wifi-N dongle and both frequencies are available. The two nits are the lack of a full SSD option and possibly the worst WIRED USB keyboard I ever used. I understand I bought a refurb but I couldn't believe they included such a cheap keyboard in a XPS system, the top of the line system. The wired keyboard is a total failure.

Superior HW and SW

I cannot tell if I like Windows 8 Pro a lot (I do) since the hardware (HW) is so superior it may be the HW I like so much. There is a bit of a learning curve with touch on a desktop and Win 8 Pro. The few times I have had to call has also resulted in superior telephone support. Most all of the drivers and updates and troubleshooting I need is nicely available online but I've had a couple of more involved questions all of which were answered knowledgably especially considering how new this is to the Dell Technicians as well. As an aside, I happen to be a LAN Admin at a large company and I'm in test mode right now for Windows 8 Pro and the touch desktop HW. My users are going to freak out once I can get some deployed and it will be a while just like it was with Windows 7 Pro which was really just XP perfected and not as major as this paradigm shift. Cheers.

AS a graphic designer the attraction of the physical XPS was the articulated stand which folds down like a drawing board, great for photo or video work. I think I may have left what I used as a second monitor attached to my rooms wall behind, the HD graphics are so impressive on the XPS> They are certainly a jump forward mixed with integrated touch, mouse and keyboard control it makes work a lot simpler. let alone entertainment and Windows seem to have done a lot of work on how to protect your system settings and of course your work. I recommend an external drive of size which I have used for years to avoid loss of photographs etc. so that Windows * can save an "image" of your system. Puts everything back where it should be, despite my over enthusiastic-idiocy. For some reason my cautious system settings backup didn't work out but Dell sorted it out!

This computer is everything I wanted in a computer. Fast boot up time, handles Photoshop CS6 editing really fast, the screen is gorgeous and colour calibrated. Some of my older devices will not work on USB 3, but I have the computer set up the way I want it anyways. The touch screen is a great feature and Windows 8 pretty intuitive, so I did not find the learning curve too steep. Seems to perform maintenance tasks on its own, or at least it will remind you. Yes the mouse does feel cheap, but who cares. My only criticism would be that the 8 in 1 card reader will not read an SD card from my Canon 5D MkII, which considering the graphic-gaming capability of this workhorse should have been there. Maybe next go round it will be there. Easy to set up right out of the box. This is the best computer I have ever owned, and I love it!

Love everything .... apart from the glossy screen

I love everything about this computer. After a brief 'escape' to HP and even Apple, I am back to Dell and am very impressed by looks, quality, performance. But - I work from home and use my Dell XPS one 10 to 12 hours a day. And this is where I made a mistake buying an all-in-one with a glossy screen. I have moved my desk to minimize glare, closed the curtains, but my eyes just don't hack trying to focus on work instead of all the reflections for that many hours a day. It has come to the point know that I have bought an anti-glare film from ViewGuard. It reduces glare, but adds an extra layer which blurrs text - that is a no no. So .. although I really really love this computer - I am (after 3 months) already thinking about replacing it with an 27 inch Dell Ultra Sharp monitor (they still are with matte screens I hope), combined with an XPS Ultrabook. Just not sure how much my 3-month-old XPS One would sell for an how much I would have to fork out to get a matte screen, combined with an Ultrabook with the same performance as my XPS One. To summarize: basically I am just very sad to have to let the XPS One go, just because of this glossy screen :(
