Rated 5 out of 5★ by bluecanary25 Nice air rifle to plink with My first break barrel rifle and I had decided on the Nitro Piston vs spring. Cost was important but not THE major factor. Wood stock for the "feel" of a true rifle. Suprised me on the amount of effort to compress the piston, takes 2 hands for my wife. Have not zeroed in the scope, yet, but seems to be "accurate" by eyeball~10 yards. There is some recoil, a little less than a 22 rifle. The scope is nice, much better than the entry level 880. Fun to shoot in the backyard using old hard drives as targets. The Nitro Venom was protected in shipping (ordered online and shipped to local store) by an outer box that also hid its contents. Walmart was good at confirming the order and having tracking number to build my anticipation. 02/28/2013

Rated 5 out of 5★ by familyman Excellent gun This gun is built solid a little heavy but worth it the scope is adequate but starts to blur at long distance above 6x power but can focus above that at short distances, we were shooting eggs off fence post at 30yrds on 2nd day easy to sight in. Do not oil this gun!!! I know it says to in the manual but that is not correct, just keep it wiped down occasionally and it should last many years. 11/04/2013
Rated 1 out of 5★ by notdarryl mine was a dud This might be a fine air rifle, if it worked. At first, I didn't think it would fire at all, but then I discovered that if I used the flat end of a pen, every single time, to push the pellet flush, when loading, it would fire. After putting about 50 shots through it, at different distances, I found that between 25 and 43 yds, the pellet would drop about 10 inches. Using an online trajectory calculator, I estimate my muzzle velocity to be under 400fps, when, with 10.5 grain pellets, it should be over 800fps. I called Crosman, and they said they would fix it. I am just so disgusted and have heard enough bad reviews on crosman products (seems like 5% of them are junk, and the rest are pretty good), that I am thinking I might just get my money back... Also, the scope has a 3-9x zoom, but it starts to get fuzzy around 7x, even at 50+ yds. 6x is probalby fine, since my eyes are quite good, but I just think it is lame that it is supposed to go to 9x, but you can't focus at that magnification. You should also be aware that it is pretty heavy. And, like everyone says, the trigger has an obnoxiously long travel. I found the best way to use it is to quickly pull it about 0.25", or so, before worrying too much about holding the crosshairs exactly on the target. 09/22/2012
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Shooter19999 Needs broken in The rifle feels great and is easy to use but strings pellets vertically. Have tried multiple brands with the same results. I have put approximately 200 through it- many reviews have stated it takes up to 500 to break in. I will put 500 through it before I return it. Trigger is adjustable but very long and heavy even with adjusting although good enough if you concentrate on not jerking it. Verticle strings are approximately 2 inches at 15 yards with multiple rests. 07/10/2013
