    • A. No, you don't need any additional propellent such as nitrogen or CO2 cartridges. The NP has a closed gas chamber that does not allow any air (nitrogen) to enter or escape. When you break the barrel over, you compress a plunger into the sealed gas chamber, thus compressing the contained gas. When you pull the trigger the plunger is released and the compressed gas in the cylinder is converted from potential energy to kinetic energy thus blowing the pellet down range.

    • A. No, it does not require CO2 or nitrogen. It is a single break barrel pump with a Nitrogen Piston which only needs to be pumped once per shot. Also, read my review for more info. Thanks and Walmart is the best place to buy this airgun! Better prices! Don't forget the Crosman Premier Pellets!

    • A. No. The Nitrogen unit is a sealed unit and has the same function as the mainspring on other break-barrel air rifles. It actually is quieter than a spring (no bounce back and forth sound) and it can be cocked in advance and left until shot without the worry of spring fatigue.

Excellent air rifle for the money, read a lot of good and bad about this gun, every gun takes practice to shoot and learn. This one is for serious shooters.... Most people I know have no patience if you happen to be one of them then don't buy this gun. This gun does not shoot well out of the box. A lot of adjustments to get it zero'd. But when its on its on.....decent groups at 25-40 yards 1/2-3/8" with some going through the same hole. Scope is decent, trigger needs work, But I know the secret to working the trigger... 500 round break-in is average for break barrels. Power is not lacking at all, 3/4" plywood is no match under 20 yards. I'm no stranger to air rifles 30+ years experience....12 years with break barrels, and this is the best one I've had the privilege of owning. Wanna know the secret post a comment. For those still looking for a good break barrel good luck in your searches cause mine is over finally!! Be safe all....

This is my first Pellet Rifle - I purchased the daisy 880 for my son for Xmas & this for myself. Right out of the box, the heft of this rifle made me think I was going hunting for BEAR. The Resin Stock is seamless & tight. It looks & feels like a quality gun. At first, the gun was loud & cocking was hard, but after a few hundred Benjamin Hunting Pellets, the sound was more muffled & the cocking felt easier - if anything it will build some muscle. The scope went right on & I am impressed with no reservations. With minimal tweaking, I was shooting tight groups @ 10 & 30 yards. This gun TORE up Tin Cans, Water Bottles, Cow Bells look like they were hit with a hammer. Others hate the trigger - I found nothing wrong with it at all. It could be more crisp but I wouldn't consider any mods. Maybe I'm the lucky one. I'm very well pleased that I spent the extra $$$ & went with the Trail - all-weather.

Received my Trail NP today. Shipping was quite fast. Received the Crosman Premier domed pellets same day. First impression was great. Feels like a regular rifle. I have read and viewed many reviews leading up to my purchase and liked this gun. Scope went on no problem and after about five rounds was basically dialed in until the recommended 100 pellets are fired. Some say 500 before the gun really finds its zero. Ok, so the gun itself seems great. The scope works but I can tell it is probably about a 50$ scope and probably wont be very accurate. The optics are ok, but the dials are sketchy. I have had a 600$ Leupold on my 300 Weatherby and that was a scope. I don't expect much from the reviews I have read. I was expecting a sling in the box, but did not receive one. The box says on it, "Sling ready". Perhaps the latter releases did include one. Coming from firing a Crosman 760 10 pumper I was delightfully surprised at the impressive firepower. This is definitely not a plinker. Have to see how she holds up after more rounds.

Great scope on this gun adds to the value. 9x variable power with adjustable range drop compensator. Gun seems pretty accurate. As instructions say it gets quieter after the first 100 shots or so (and more accurate) after the components get broke in. Only drawback is the time it takes to reload. It's actually a pretty physical undertaking but once you get a system and muscle memory it's easier. My burly friends had a heck of a time until you show them to use leverage and be quick about breaking the barrel. This gun is quiet. Shooting from my covered patio it's as loud as if someone clapped their hands hard one time. Gun is pretty heavy. Actually heavier than my hunting rifle. I would recommend though for the casual backyard critter sniper.

I am very pleased with this. Though not perfect, it is what an air rifle should be. My complaints: not a great trigger (a common gun problem). Do a search for Charlie da Tuna and get one of his; it's an easy install. Why do they include a 3-9x scope? I'd rather not pay for stuff I don't want, and 9x to shoot 50 yards is ridiculous; they should have used the scope money for a better trigger. It would have been nice to have some sort of pellet strip so you don't have to handle a single pellet for each shot, but few air rifles are that technologically advanced, even this Nitro Piston gun. One thing to consider, .177 pellets are half the cost, so you can get in a lot more practice for the same cost. The .22 is a bit better for taking small game.
