    • A. You want to keep at least one or two pumps in at ALL times. This is not a spring powered gun where you don't want to keep it cocked. You can keep the two pumps in and NOT have it cocked.

    • A. The max number of pumps that Crosman recommends is 10. I use three to shoot out to 10 meters. If you use heavier pellets, you'll want to use more pumps to keep the same point of impact.

    • A. 10 is the max but I usually pump 6-8 for most target shooting. 10 for sure if you are shooting small game. The whole thing is the more times you shoot at max pressure, the shorter the life of the seals. Also, don't leave the gun pressurized for extended periods of time. Less time the better.

    • A. 10 pumps is the max, and don't go over ten pumps because it could damage the gun!

    • A. 6 pumps should be enough for target shooting. any less i guess would inconsistently propel the pellets. i routinely use 12 or 14 pumps to shoot varmints.

    • A. I would say the maximum number of pumps which should be used on a regular basis is no more that three. I have used other brands with similar mechanisms and have gone up to five pumps with no problems.

    • A. Its NOT a 10 pump thats for sure. You can go by how accurate the shot is according to the distance. It does VERY well on 2-4 pumps. You can buy MANY after-market parts for this online. Its used as a tranquilizer gun and in competitions. I would buy 2 of these if I were you! The parts you can get- replace the plastic with metal and improve accuracy and longevity as well as POWER!

    • A. Yes it will , and it also kills Rabbits . And it kills them quickly and does not leave them to suffer . I have used it to hunt most all small game and it does very well. Now check the laws for you State as they do change . But do not be afraid to hunt with this as it does very well , just do not stretch out the range to far , but I have used it at 75 feet and done just fine. Just pump it up to 10 and you will be fine.

Crossman calls it the Classic and it certainly is. There is not a more accurate .177 pistol in this price range. Its a wonderfull multi-pump shooter. The plastic grips are loose but a dab of glue will fix it; and be aware, there is a pinch point between the compression chamber and the pump handle. I've bruised my index finger on many occasion so be carefull pumping the gun. Modifications abound for this pistol. Google RBgrips for aftermarket grips and pump handles that will resolve both problems above. Also available are site mounts and shoulder stocks. If you like to tinker, Crossman has parts to completely transform this pistol.

This air pistol is fun, accurate and inexpensive. It is also powerful for an air pistol at any price. The stock sights are good but just a little hard to adjust. It would work well for target shooting or pest control at close range. It would be better if the grips and forearm were made of wood instead of plastic but that would make the cost more. I like it and would recommend it to anyone who likes to shoot and does not mind pumping an air gun.

Solid, sturdy, sure, comfortable, consistent, quality, craftsmanship; I expected all of these things from Crosman but I did not realize how much fun it would be and how true the sights could be set. This is a fine piece of workmanship. It shoots very straight thanks to the rifled barrel. It is well balanced, easy to pump, and easy to load. I truly wish I had one of these many years ago. By the way, there is a myriad of accessories to adorn and/or upgrade the pistol should you so choose; you can even convert it into a rifle! This pistol is easy to aim and a pleasure to shoot. At 600 fps, the power is readily available for small varmints, dispatching snakes or dissuading intruders.

I bought an American Classic in 1992 and it still works like new. Just needs a couple of drops of oil now and then. Great gun and quite accurate. It's only drawback is it a single shot.
