Rated 4 out of 5 by GerbilOwner I usually buy aspen as it's cheaper and I will admit, I prefer using aspen because the price tag is more attractive and I know it's just as healthy. However, one day, I happened to go to Wal Mart and they were out of aspen. I didn't have the gas (or the time) to drive anywhere else and my gerbils and hamster NEEDED their tanks clean. Desperate to get the tanks clean on time, I picked up a bag of this even though it was more expensive. It looked similar to Carefresh, so I assumed it would be okay. The bedding isn't as soft as Carefresh, but it was softer than the aspen I buy from Wal Mart. It holds burrows well enough and isn't that dusty. I eventually mixed aspen with it and found that a combination of it and aspen makes for GREAT burrows. It's pretty absorbent and prevents stink a few days longer than aspen does. My hamster loves this bedding, as well. She prefers using it for nesting over aspen. So, when I can buy a bag of it, I do so and give her a couple handfuls for nesting material. My only complaint is that it's so pricey. But I guess that sometimes it doesn't hurt to pay for quality. I recommend this for those who can't afford Carefresh but can't use aspen for whatever reason. 12/31/2011
