Plug it in and the color has a swirling motion around the inside of the ball and it changes colors. I have a hat mounted on mine just for fun. If a multi-colored ball is what you need then this is the ticket. It shipped promptly and arrived in good shape. 10/15/2010

I wish I could pick one color but it blends from one to another. When it is mostly blue and has a little green, it looks like earth from space. When red it looks like the sun. I placed mine on a lava lamp base and put the lava lamp top on top of it. I am using it in videos for youtube. If you want to see it on yt search for MrAlesisMan. It is in every video.
