  • A. If your cable system had no HD channels this TV would still work but obviously the HD channels are much cleaner.

  • A. You will need a digital converter box from your cable provider, which will connect via coax cable to the TV. FYI, if it's Comcast, you will not be able to use the Comcast remote to turn on the TV.

  • A. It works great with just cable. I've had it hooked up to a regular DVR Cox cable box since I received it and the picture is excellent. As soon as I transfer the several hours of recorded programming I have to DVDs, I plan to swap the box I have for an HD receiver. I expect the picture will only improve.

  • A. Yes, it will work with just regular cable. In fact, if you have local digital HD channels the TV will recieve those for free even without a separate digital box.

I just received this TV today and for the life of me I can not figure out how to mount it to the stand. It will not go on there tight enough and just kind of flops around. No instructions on how to do it. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • A. I hope you figured it out by now. It's been 3 months since I bought mine and I don't remember exactly how it went together, but I remember it wasn't very intuitive! I finally did figure it out and it went together very tightly. Looking at the base from the bottom, there are 6 screw heads visible that are pointing upward through the base into the plastic cylinder. Hope that helps...

  • A. I couldn't find any instructions either. You need to turn the set upside down, attach the base stand (short side facing the screen side), then place the plastic retaining ring in place (the ring with all the holes in it). You then attach the retaining ring to the set's pedestal by screwing the 6 included screws into the holes. Once those screws are tight, flip the set over and it will stand well on it's own.

  • A. It has a ring you slide over the attached foot, then a smaller ring and then you mount it with the enclosed screws.

  • A. 1 slide round disc out of round cylinder. 2 slide cylinder with the two little tabs on the inside on shaft from the bottom. 3 place round thin washer looking thing on . then the flat base plate. 4 fit the round disc with the holes on the alignment pins then install screws and tighten

i bought this tv because i was not.NOT going to spend more than $200 on a tv. and it is defiantly low profile although the picture doesnt go all the way out to the plastic rim, it has this 1mm black strip that comes in from there and it can be a bit annoying if your close to the tv. however the picture itself is still very good and comfortable to watch. two small hitches: if you have direct tv your remote wont recognize this tv so you will have to stick to using the remote that comes with it to change the volume and turn the power on and off speaking of which, it will turn itself off after about three hours of use without warning... but that was just a matter of changing the settings in the menu. other than that its a really nice tv for that price and is just that. a tv. no special software or settings. just a good picture and at a decent size

This TV is extremely true to its price point and specs. Everything works exactly as I would expect for a $189 32" LED. The contrast ratio is only 1000:1, so black is more dark-greyish in color and you may not find the picture as "vivid" as you would expect with an LED. The sound is not great, as you might expect, but fine for watching the news or a football game. The remote is a bit counter-intuitive as well...(i.e. volume-down is + and Volume up is -). Other than that, the HD tuner is great; I was able to get rid of my box and just use an HD antenna to get the baseball and football games. All in all, this is a great value for a TV at the vacation home or on the dresser in the bedroom. I would NOT recommend it for an area with a high level of ambient light (aka: a living room full of windows). The contrast ratio is not high enough to combat opposing light.

There are better 32" TV's out there, but nothing at this price! Plus the energy usage estimate is the lowest of any 32" TV, making it the most economical one to operate. The picture is excellent and the sound is quite adequate, but we don't use the TV speakers as we have a surround sound system we listen to with this TV. The only disappointment is a bright splash screen which displays "CRAIG" while it boots up after powering on each time. The setup instructions could be better - I'm no dummy, but it took me a few minutes to figure out how to put the base on - the instructions didn't explain or show how to do that. Finally, the base is very light - I'd prefer a heavier base to ensure that it doesn't tip over. We live in earthquake country and I'm afraid it'll topple if jostled even a little. Over all we're very happy with this TV and will buy another one for our guest room as soon as I see it on sale at this price again!

If all you have is regular free tv, the picture will come in great. If you have cable and you hook it to the cable right from the wall, the picture will be fuzzy. This tv needs to be hooked up to a cable box costing us more money. Our other tv in the living room is hooked up to a box but this tv was to replace the 15" bedroom tv. Now that 15" tv was only hooked up to cable through the wall and worked just fine but not this tv. We had to go get a cable box and are now paying an additional $10 a month for it just so we can have a clear picture in the bedroom. Are the tv manufactures working with the cable companies to make more money? It seems kind of fishy to me that in order to get a clear picture you have to pay for a box that you don't need or want. I don't need all the features of the cable box for my bedroom. I guess I should have returned it but I'm not so sure that other tv manufacturers aren't in on this also.

My only issue with this television is that I purchased it to be permanently mounted on the wall. After receiving it, I find out that it cannot be mounted on the wall. There are no mounting holes and according to the Manufacturer mounting this TV voids the warranty. This information was not in the manual for the TV but on the manufacturer's website. That information should have been provided in the description. I purchased a wall mount as well...

TV Shuts off on its own, brand new out of box
9/1/2012

Customer review by realXman

Just bought it for my daughter's dorm room. It shut itself off frequently the first day of use. Apparently it has settings for "inactivity" and also "no signal" which can cause it to shut off but even after I turned those settings to off, it still Boughtshut off on its own. I can only conclude that it is defective right out of the box. What a hassle and waste of time now that I have to take it back to Walmart. Bought it online and seemed like a bargain. If it worked properly, it would have been. But it is not.

The TV is a great value considering I got it for <200 dollars. The picture and the sound quality is above average and it has all the basic features that the users want today (two HDMI ports, headphone jack, etc.) The TV is very light-weight and can be carried easily anywhere. The only missing feature is a lack of USB port, which can be used to connect flash-drives and portable drives to play music or videos, or simply to view photos. The TV is also not a smart-TV but can be converted easily by the use of any 'Network Media Players' (such as Sony N-200.)

Unfortunately, there were no instructions on the base assembly but it was relatively straightforward and easy to figure out. Excellent picture and no wimpy, lackluster speakers. Actually, the sound is so good, the wife has had to tell me more than once to "turn it down!". I just hope this set lasts. Only time will tell.
