- The basic recommendations, is to have someone drive the car a short distance once a week. This can help resolve multiple issues with long term vehicle storage. If this is not possible, placing the vehicle on jacks will resolve the issue of flat spotting, but you will also need to address some issue with the other components on the vehicle: Top up the fuel – this will help to prevent moisture build up. You should also consider using a fuel stabilizer. Change the oil – This is especially important for storage over 30 days. And the battery – Given that you are considering placing the vehicle on jack stands, this may not be an issue, but if you plan to install the tires, and then drive off, you may want to consider the fact that the battery may discharge in storage. For this, cheap and easy, you can disconnect the negative terminal, the reconnect it in six months. You can also purchase a trickle charger to maintain the battery while in storage.by XPRS7/24/2013Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)Was this answer helpful?
