No pumping required. This is much safer than coleman gasoline stoves which require pumping. I have both and the propane I bought many years ago. Its foolproof. Just make sure you screw the propane bottle on tight but not too tight , like you do not need a wrench or pliers. When you open the valve you will hear the propane flow and then I suggest a piezo spark lighter that uses the spark from a small piece of quartz to ignite the propane. No batteries and no fuel required. I have not see these lighters lately. I do not trust the butane powered lighters to use to light camp stoves. I would make sure you do not chip the porecelian grill. I would even consider wrapping the grill after cleaning it in an old towel to preseerve the porcelain coating. If you do this the stove can be passed down to future generations. But look for the best price.

You could sort of use it as a stove but it is really a grill and not a stove so you will end up wasting a lot of fuel and it will heat unevenly. I bought this along with a Coleman Propane Stove and the stove is great for pots and pans while this grill is great for steaks, fajitas, burgers, and bratwursts.

It does not require pumping put you can not use any pots or pans on it or it will ruin the grill surface. You would also need to purchase a stove, I have a very affordable Coleman stove as well and the combination of the two is like having your kitchen outdoors with you. Love them both!

No. It uses propane. You can boil water as well. You can buy separately the skillet. but can use a pot/pan on the included grill. Water will boil faster with the lid lowered on the pot,but be cautious the handle of the pot/pan can get pretty hot.

The answer is "sort of". I tried to put a pan on it to cook eggs but it didn't work out too well and I ended up buying the Coleman propane stove. The stove works great. But this grill is still worth buying if you're going to be doing a lot of cooking outdoors.

You can but you'll burn through a lot of propane due to the single burner design. Using two pans or pots at the same time would utilize the majority of the heat.

not sure what you mean but we cooked chicken steaks dogs burgers corn potatoes used pot and boiled water so i guess sorta they do make another model that has part grill and half burner also v nice and simular

No. This grill can only work with the 1 pound propane cans. You can buy adapter hoses that will allow you to use a 20 pound propane tank that most home grills use with this grill though. I bought the adapter hose for mine for about $20 and now I don't have to worry about running out of propane in the middle of a cookout and also save a lot of money by not using those little propane cans.

the small bottles of fuel fit the stove. However, you could probably buy an adapter to fit from a bigger propane tank.

Coleman camping stove

I use this grill at my hot dog stand. And I love it!!! I have been using it for the past 2 1/2 years!!! I haven't had the problem others have with the grill grate “melting”. I believe you guys are setting pans on it and putting it on high which would cause this to happen. Put your pans on the side burner as I do and you won't have that problem. I also love this grill for the easy clean up. I put it side ways in my sink ( farm house sink) spray it with foam cleaner, scrub it (inside) and then spray it with water. Do not submerge it. This grill has been used everyday for 4 to 5 hours a day and I've never had an issue with it!!! I highly recommend it just DON'T put a pan on the grill part!!! The process is simple easy and clean! Super easy setup. Cooks equally throughout. Portability awesome and durable enough to cook outdoors. Clean up easy.

Equal burn for price!

Very easy to use.  Use a pan spray before using.  Makes cleanup a lot easier.  Grilled pork chops and cooked potatos diced up in aluminum foil and the results were outstanding.  The low setting was plenty, as this grill gets very hot.  You will be pleased with this purchase.  Goes easy on fuel too!

Wonderful Grill!

Very good price value

The grill grate is a porcelain coated cast iron grate, not what I expected, the better grate which is offered on their two burner grill is a die cast aluminum grill grate which is a far better grate.

Not as compact as I thought it would be, took a long time to set it up. It is great for camping if you set it out and left it set up for a few days but if your looking to use it once and put it away right after not a good buy. Need matches to light it up, doesn't have a self starter.

Too much work

I purchased this grill for my husband as a Christmas gift, he opened it, it was used..covered with what appeared  to be meat drippings under the grill plate, also the leg was broken, how embarrassing to open a gift and it be in such horrible condition. Walmart needs to do better!!!

Awful

Caution metal parts have sharp corners.  Grating is made very thin and warped the first time I used it.  The lowest flame setting is way too high and will burn your food if you are not watching it. Coleman what happened to you, you made quality products in the past, but now your products are cheapy made and don't last.   Bring back the quality my goodness.

Not a good product

I have bought this grill before and was very pleased but the new grill I bought is cheaply made. the grill warped on the first warm up. and the hi, medium and low settings does not change. Very poor grill I would not recommend anyone to buy
