The poles that came with my son's Discovery Kids Adventure Play Tent were junky plastic and broke after using the tent only a couple of times. Thankfully, these replacement poles were available. Two sets were exactly what I needed to replace the broken poles. These replacement poles are made of MUCH sturdier matierals and I think will last much longer than the original poles did. The replacement poles were pretty easy to put together - the toughest part is getting the elastic string through all the poles. But for these replacement poles, the playtent would have been tossed into the garbage. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I bought a used canopy shade tent at a thrift store. When I got it home and started assembling it, I discovered the reason the tent was at the thrift store—one of the poles had broken right next to one of the silver ferrules, and another one was stressed and would probably bust in the future. My good deal wasn't looking so great until I found these replacement poles at Walmart. Compared to other sites, the price couldn't be beat! The new poles were a bit longer than my tent's, but trimmed down nicely with the use of a hacksaw. I got my tent fixed up in no time and am pleased that my used tent purchase remains a great deal!

Used the Coleman poles to fix a Ozark tent that had lost poles! These poles were very easy to string and cut to length with a hacksaw. Anybody with a little common sense can figure out how to use these poles! Well worth the money to repair a $150.00 tent. AND if you have to cut them off as I did you can buy the extra ferrells in the stores OR use one of the plastic caps that are included. I even had to drill a hole in the end to accomodate the tent assembly. Very easy!!!!

    • Hacksaw with fine tooth blade is best. Scissors will not cut it without splitting.

    • No, they are fiberglass so you will need a fine tooth saw.

    • scissors would not cut the pole. It is fiberglass. You would need a saw.

    • It would be better to use a hack saw or any saw with small fine tooth. A knife or scissors might work if you use it like a saw.

    • Can be cut with a tubing cutter. This leaves a smooth clean cut with no splinters.

    • Use a hack saw and for best results, do not cut it straight through. Cut a ring around the pole first by rolling the pole after every few strokes. This will reduce the chance of splintering.

    • The poles are pretty thick fiberglass, so nothing short of a hack saw will do it unless you want to destroy your tool or the pole.

    • Hacksaw (metal cutting saw) will work as previously suggested. Also, a fine toothed wood saw ('regular' saw) will work. Teeth should be more than 16 per inch else it will not be easy to move over such a narrow item. Could use a Dremel type tool with a cutoff disc. Scissors apply a crushing force that would likely crack or splinter fiberglass pole.

    • You need a saw to cut the poles to length. A hack saw will work.

I bought an Ozark Tent 9ft x 8ft Hexagonal Sport Dome Tent Sleeps 2-3. I cant remember exactly when. But I want to know if I can use this Coleman Replacement Tent Pole Kit. Are these poles bendable / colapsable like the originals? We have thrown them away by accident in our process of moving. Please let me know if any one can answer this for me before I order this product. Thank-you
    by Dagee
    • These poles are 108" total length, but you could use 2 sets to make a longer pole. 3/8" thick at fiberglass portion, 1/2" thick at metal connector portion.

    • Yes if your diameter of your pole is the same. You are basically replacing just a section of the pole.

    • They are bendable/collapsible like the originals. You will just have to research on how long would you need them to be. Open a similar size tent at the store and measure the length of the poles and count how many sections. You can use that as to how many replacement pole kit you will need to buy.

    • I cut mine to 6' and 7', respectively, for two pole sets. They both bend quite reasonably even at those lengths. Most tent poles are much longer than this, but the fiberglass in these poles is quite thick (radially) so they will be strong and flexible. Anyway, at this cost it is worth a try isn't it?
      by jhodgesatmb

    • Yes, all fiberglass poles will bend under load. Likely a good replacement for your tent. Some tents use larger 1/2" diameter poles for key structural points and smaller 3/8" or 1/4" for lighter duty (support awning/window). 3/8" is typical and one review says the size is incorrectly listed as 0.5" or 1/2" and is actually 3/8"

    • This kit only has four sections that are 27" long. You need three poles about 15 feet long, so if you bought enough kits (5), you could do it.
