  • A. I was able to do most of it by myself however I did not want to take the chance damaging the tent so had my wife's help raising it and putting in the four main corner poles. I suppose it could be done if you put all the roof poles in place first then went around with the corner poles one at a time to raise it. The nice part being the fact that the roof poles are for the roof alone and don't go all the way down to the ground like dome tents.

  • A. There is no way to zip them closed. I would recommend not staking them or staking them next to the tent to close them off.

  • A. No, but you can move the stakes close to the tent to keep them closed. I wrapped them around the front and back of the tent and it held out the cold and rain

  • A. Side vents do not have a zipper (Im assuming your referring to the bottom vents), however, you can prop something against them and should be fine.

  • A. While they don't close (no zipper or any type of velcro), you wouldn't have to stake them out in the open position. We were set up very close to a tree and didn't stake out one side. If it is an issue, I would think you could attach your own closure method (maybe velcro dots?).

I am an avid camper in the Northern, MI. I recently had to retire my last tent of 15 years due to oldness of the tent and the increase in family size. In two trips this summer I was in inconvenienced by heavy rain and long wet days and nights. This tent stayed completely dry without a drop (I did spray the tent with camp dry as I do this with all my tents. One of the good things in the design is that the tent floor goes up the side of the tent about 6 inches and then has a seam rather than having the bottom seam at ground level. The door zipper is a little tricky but having a hinged door is awesome! The first time out with this tent a stake loop ripped off the as I setting the tent up and I had to sew it back on in a race against a storm. Since then I have reinforced all of the stake loops. The Size of this tent is really awesome and spacious with the square upright walls. You can stand straight up and walk around. The window screens do not have zippers that that open all the way as that is something I usually like to have. The windows are very large and with five of them you get an awesome breeze. Even though I have outlined a few inconveniences of this tent I must say I am very happy with it for the price. You can't beat it! I love it!

Great Tent!!

We didn't know what to expect really, we have never used a tent this large, and it is LARGE!. It was easier to set up than I thought it would be. Around 20 minutes the first time, prob 12-15 now that we know how it goes together. If anyone was wondering, it will free stand like a dome tent quite well without guying it down. It took a few minutes to figure out how to get the door to close properly, but worked like a champ after that. We had to zip about a foot on the top and bottom to make a bug free seal. We didn't experience any fowl weather, so I can't speak to that other than it appears the rain fly may not over hang enough so to keep any windows open during a driving rain which isn't unusual. It fit easily back in the bag along with the extra sets of stakes. I will say like others mentioned here, go ahead and pick up some "Real" stakes when you get the tent. The little wire jobbies ain't gonna hack it. We used the nail type in hard ground, the plastic cross in sand. We were considering a tent with an attached screen room until we saw this one with all the windows. Glad we did. It worked out well. Slept 4 on one end, used the other as a living room. For the price, you can't beat this tent.

After doing our research, my husband and I decided to purchase this tent. Not only because of the decent price but because of the space and how easy it is to put together. Can I tell you how much I love it? It went together so easily and quickly (neither of us have ever put a tent together) and is very sturdy! I love that it's so spacious inside as well. We can fit our two queen air mattresses on one side of the divider (removable) and all our goodies such as our tv (yeah, we really rough it) on the other side. And thanks to the power cord door, it made things so much easier (and less buggier). The hinged door is awesome and convenient and the "doggie door" is pretty neat too. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the red fabric around the door. It seals it pretty nice however it's difficult to zip and unzip. This is sure to make any family of four or more very happy! Can't wait to go camping again soon!

a big tent

My husband purchased this tent for a camping weekend in Cherokee NC. We have twin 5 year old boys and needed a tent with a little size for us. We wanted something that our family could grow into. This tent is gigantic. You could fit 4 queen size blow up mattresses in it. The directions are not hard to read and the tent is easy to put up with two people. I am hoping to get several years out of this tent with our family. The only thing I would warn is that this tent is cold. It does not hold any heat at all which will be perfect in the summer but not for 40 degree nights in Cherokee. I can't wait to use this tent again worth every penny.

Used it twice, in a state park and on the beach, and enjoyed it! 2 adults and a 2 1/2 yr old.., put the baby down early and never bothered her coming in or out, it's a very roomy tent. We haven't used the rain fly (hasn't rain during camping) or the room divider (no need yet). Easy set up, can be done by one but of course way easier with at least two people. Make sure the corner metal posts are the shorter ones of the bunch! We had trouble at night because of not realizing this....don't think the instructions stated this. As I was staking it down, I pulled on the stake loop and the stitching broke.. going to return for a new one. DON'T EVEN WORRY ABOUT THE "HINGED DOOR".., it's not all its cracked up to be, unless you like bugs in your tent. The door velcro doesn't really match up with the tent velcro plus the over lapping material on the top of the "door jam" covers the velcro making you have to lift it to catch the velcro. SOOOOO..., JUST USE THE OLD SCHOOL ZIPPER flap style....... OVERALL it is a sturdy and acceptable tent!
